As the title says, anyone have a center punch and rivet gun I can borrow? Needs to accept 3/16" rivets. Ordered a set of hood dampers for my Legacy for $45 instead of $70 (still new) and the install guide says I will need a rivet gun. Will only need to pick it up after the struts get here (likely a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning is when I would pick it up) and then bring it back Saturday afternoon or Sunday.

Bump! Can anyone help me out on the rivet gun? Center punch isn't as big of a deal, I just really need a rivet gun to borrow and don't want to have to spend money on it to only use it once.

I know they aren't expensive. But I will buy it, use it once, and never touch it again, lol. Not worth another $10 just to be able to install the hood dampers imo :p

why use rivets to install hood dampers? bad idea. what if they happen to blow out prematurely? its gonna be a fun time trying to get those suckers out.

drill a hole and use a bolt.

Those are the install instructions for the hood dampers. I wouldn't worry too much about them blowing out any time soon as they are still BNIB.

destructions are wack. you can still drill a hole and use small self tapping screws.

It doesn't matter if they are still new in box. If your car is outside in the freezing weather it could make them go out. Happened to mine and I still have not got a replacement set from Street Concepts. Happened after we had like -15 degree weather. They just didn't work anymore.

After looking at the instructions just rivet them in. You can always replace the shock if it goes out no need to replace the brackets at all or ever remove them. Go buy a gun and do it. You might need it for something else one day. Maybe for some school project or something. IDK.

I have a rivet gun you can use but it's in the springs and it will probably cost you more to drive here than buying a gun.
