So Electronic Arts(EA) has decided that they will move themselves up to number one spot on the dick head pole. EA has refused to allow Turn10, the creators of Forza, to use Porsche's in Forza4. Apparently EA has exclusive rights to Porsche use in video games, and with their all mighty licensing rights have now told Turn10 that they can not use Porsche's in Forza4.
http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/29/forza-motorsport-4-wants-to-include-porsche-models-ea-says-nei/Awesome................ just awesome. So to all my Forza and Porsche loving friends go tell EA to F themselves. I would suggest not buying anything EA makes just for show, but i have to admit i will be buying Battlefield when it comes out
FU EA!

That's true about RUF, I almost forgot. Licensing pacts over stupid stuff like that is retarded. It's why I don't preorder games, because you get a special bonus gun if you preorder from gamestop, a special armor suit if you preorder from Kmart, a double-sided !@#$% if you preorder from wal-mart. It needs to stop now.

EA has been bunk for years!!!! They can't handle competition. When take2 came out with NFL 2k5 and sold it for $20 and it was a better game than Madden that year (heck better than the next couple years of Madden) what did EA do? The bought licensing rights to the NFL, and since then no one else can make an NFL licensed game.

For sure, this is true. But i hate to say what i am about to, but it's true. I am a purist when it comes to all cars, not only Porsche. I love what RUF does, but it's modifications are not for me. And yes, it's just a game so in reality what does it mater if it looks different ect. But this may come across as strange or a "who cares" type statement, but even in Forza all of my "cars" are damn near stock in appearance and that's because it's what i like in my little xbox fantasy land as it were. So for me, EA not allowing Turn10 to have Porsche's as they were designed and built is a little bigger of a deal since it takes away from their original incarnation because they now have to use RUF models. Just throwing it out there.
I was really excited to "drive" in the game the new 997.2 RS, but now it ain't happening.
*Disclaimer: i still know it's a game. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, just a bit upset and want to rant.

Wow. This licensing thing is almost as ridiculous as Apples generic patents. Sad so sad.

You do realize the Alois Ruf is licensed in Germany as a manufacturer, not a tuner, and that the Porsche Factory themselves endorses what he does? He is literally given unlimited acces to the factory and its bits and even does some contract R&D for them. For the purist, RUF is Porsche.

Bah, Porsche has some say behind this, too. Don't put all the blame on EA.

No, i know. Hence why Forza and other titles can use RUF models. I'm by no means saying i don't want RUF in the game, i'm actually happy to see them in 4, there were none in 3. I would just like to also have the option to toy around with bone stock Porsches and do modifications from there. When i stated i'm a "purist" it wasn't to be elitist or anything, just thought it was the right word to describe why i also would like to see factory Porsches in the game as well.

Couldn't agree more. They should never have sold exclusive rights to one studio. They are regretting it now.

ARGH! This pisses me off too. I loved driving actual Porsches in Forza 3. RUFs are Porsches, yes, but they generally have body kits and other little design differences that make them look different than regular Porsches. I'm with Colombia that I'd rather drive the production Porsches.
But, let's be honest, EA has held the #1 spot on the dickhead pole for quite some time, so we really should not be surprised.
