My last attempt to make this trip didn't pan out, but I'm determined to make it out this time around. My car should be primed and ready to go in time, and I have sourced some wheels and tires for the event. And I know alot of you guys will be finished with your builds by this time, so lets get some cars out there. After taking some laps in my car, I'd love to ride along with Eric or Dave's (hint hint) newly finished 7's!!!!!

This sounds promising...I should be able to make it! My FD will plenty of shakedown testing before then so it's a good possibility. I'll see if I can get Matt to bring his FD along too.

I'd love to do something like this but for one (although not really important, it's about having fun) my car is slow as poop, but (much more importantly) I don't think my parents would ever let me do something like this.

It's on a weekday, so if you have to request off, you may want to do so now.

Is it just for cars or can I bring my bike? I need to get it out on the track again.

How do they control cars on the track?

My concern is that if I am on a track with faster cars, then it will be hard for either of us to get any fun out of it, as I'm sure the passing and side by side driving is not what is envisioned. However, if it is envisioned to be side by side, I'd be happy as a spectator/rider. I just don't know how track days are organized/run.

I've never been lapping at HPR, but from what I learned for others who have (and I have called and talked to track officials there), they generally break up cars into a "slow" and "fast" pack, pending turnout. Slow and fast groups aren't always divided by car exclusively; if you have plenty of SCCA, NASA, or other racing experience, you will get placed in the fast group, more than likely (i.e. if Sebastian Vettle showed up in a bone stock Mazda3, he would still be in the fast group against Vettes because he would lap them). If only 6 cars are there for a session, it's kind of just a free-for-all.

There is a driving briefing/meeting before the start of each session, explaining where and how to pass a car or what to do when you encounter traffic, etc.

Jump to 2:37 to see an example of a fast car, and a REALLY fast car, sharing the road, and both being able to have fun. Don't look at an opening lapping day as a competition to get the pole for an F1 race. Just go out there and have fun. "IF" I was to get put on the track the same time as Dave and Eric, I'm sure they'd zoom (no pun intended) past me, but the fun part comes from putting youg car through it's paces.
