Kids are there too... in fact, yesterday one lady brought her baby in the car seat and set him on the ground so the dogs could get used to the baby. She was right there of course so the baby was never in harms way... but really-there have been no issues.

Isn't the purpose of a dog park to allow your dog to be free? I look at it like this, if you want to go inside than you are taking a chance. There is a chance two dogs aren't getting along, a dog with muddy paws is going to jump up on you. I don't know what its like to own a dog and have that since of resposibilty but all the times i have been at the park all the dogs seem to get really excited and play and then they calm down. Dogs have a pecking order just like the rest of us and sometimes it may appear to be out of hand but really they are just doing what is natural.

Everyone should be a little less worried and go out and enjoy being with friends and watching their dog play with the others.

I'm well aware of rough housing and all that. I only mentioned protecting my dog because there may be breeds there that are known for lock-jaw attacks.

Did you know that up until really recently the "Pit Bull" American Staffordshire Terrier was actually the number one american family dog? I understand your concers but most of the time the owners of those type of dogs are aware and make sure their dog isn't going to become another statistic. The only reason i say that is because there isn't a dog owner at the park that is worried about that kind of stuff or that their dog is going to be too frienly to the wrong dog, but then again every owner has been there when they have a new puppy that just wants to play with everyone and isn't the best at commands yet.

All i am saying is...Go. Have Fun. Enjoy. You won't regret it.

I thought this was just another excuse to hang out. If your pups are like mine, and troubled, leave them at home. We can spend our time cleaning up doggie poo..

All good points made. I'll definitely go. This is my first dog (on my own), and I tend to be very protective of her. I've been to one park with her and had no problems, other than a Beagle that wanted to hump her brains out....I let her take care of that one

I wish i had a dog and could join in. I want one so bad but i have other stuff to take care of first. Maybe this summer sometime i can loook into it again (getting a dog).

Of course this is something to do together as a club, but more importantly if gets your dog out and about. The more you socialize your dog, the less problems you have with them. As Cesar Millan says "it's the power of the pack".
