I am sorry that your step son and your family have to deal with this horrible incident. . . . please feel free to call anytime- I probably won't pick up if I don't know the number, but leave a message and I'll get back to you.
Scott[/b]
Appreciate the offer, Scott. We're considering a lawsuit, but raising the money for a retainer on an attorney, and then finding one willing to go after someone across state lines, will be difficult.

Because in Colorado sex offenders don't get prosecuted until they have ruined the lives of at least four or five families. There simply ins't any revenue for the police department to protect us from skidmarks like that kid.
God forbid he were speeding, or dui, there would have been a swat team dispatched. Especially in cospgs.[/b]
I had the distinct impression that the case "wasn't worth it" for them to go after. If they'd simply said, "We can't prove enough to win in court," I'd have understood. But saying that because my stepson didn't say NO it is considered consensual, then backing that up with "and he's leaving town anyway" is just a BS line of reasoning.
Had this been a BOY molesting a GIRL, it would be COMPLETELY different.

Great advice! And make sure you also post a classified add in the local paper of the town they are moving to. If this kid is at this stage already he'll do it again and I would ask the question "Who has been molesting him?".[/b]
We know several LEOs in the area where he is going and we intend to make sure they know FULL WELL who just moved into their neck of the woods. I have considered the newspaper ad, a website, a myspace campaign, etc, but I suspect they would sue for defamation, slander, or libel if we did.

That is awful, sorry to hear that happened. If you need a drink or an F... them forget about them gathering I will be there.[/b]
Thanks, Chris. I have gotten reacquainted with Mr. Smirnoff lately, but only a little.

I was thiking the same thing. Who has been molesting him? Maybe that's why they hightailed it out of here so quick. They didn't want their secret to get out.[/b]
Well check this out: When we withdrew my stepson from the middle school where they both went -- so that he wouldn't have to face this kid in school -- the principal asked for the offender's name. My wife gave it to her. She couldn't find it in the computer. Gave her mom's re-married name. Nothing. No combination of this kid's first and possible last names appeared in the school computers. But when my wife described him to the principal, she knew IMMEDIATELY who it was and what his mother's name was. And she refused to say ANYTHING else about it at that point.
I have my suspicions about this Colombian family and why they were so anonymous and allowed to slip out of town, but I won't post them here.
