So I am bumping this...
I am really wanting to get the FD out on the track (HPR) before the end of nice weather. I am currently looking to hit the track sometime in later August or early September.
They have open lapping days for cars, only $90 bucks get you access from 8am to noon or 1pm to 5pm. That's 4 hours of open tracking time for $90 bucks...on helluva deal. If you feel you need more time, you can pay $150 for a full day, from 8am to 5pm.
I'm looking at doing the morning half day (8am to noon). Hopefully it will be early enough so the track and ambient temps are too hot.
If anyone else is serious, let me know so we can potentially plan a day. It would be sweet!

OK, looks like I am going to HPR for an open "lapping day" on Friday, September 17th 2010. I am going to run the morning session, 8am to 12 Noon. Gates open at 7AM so I will be there around then.
Andrew (Colombia28) should also be there, but he probably won't track his car. So we'll have someone who's been around HPR a bunch of times before to give some helpful pointers.
I would like to see if we can get some others out to the track! Even if you don't plan on tracking your car, it will be FUN! And it's only $90 for registration.
Recap:
What: Open Lapping Day (track time!) http://www.highplainsraceway.com/lapping-days.html
When: Friday, September 17th, 2010, 7AM to Noon
Where: High Plains Raceway (HPR) http://www.highplainsraceway.com/
Cost: $90 for 4 hours of track time!

chickenwafer wrote:Really, $90 bucks isn't bad. It's less than one of my tires. And for track time, it's a friggen steal. It's less than $25 an hour to run all-out on a race track without worry of getting pulled over, and set a real gauge/benchmark for your car.
I was talking about the cost of brakes and tires lol, not the track fees. Oh well, at this point in time I don't even have a working vehicle so who knows wtf is gunna happen..

That right there is what gets ya! Just spent nearly $700 on new rotors and pads. But it is so damn worth it. So much fun.

I'm going on the 13th in the morning since move-in day for my brother at CSU is the 19-21st or something like that . I don't have track ready brakes or tires but one of my friends is bringing his lightning so I'll have some fun in that too. If anybody else goes that day look for a blue sport-truck and purple 3.

You don't really need "track" brakes. I ran two sessions with OEM MS3 brakes. Tires might be important on the other hand. Factory tires on a 3 would be scary.
