LOL- One of the guys I work with has been jumping for over 30 years. He told me that 220lbs isn't the end all of weight. He said if you go to the airport and meet them, they size you up (say you're a tall fit guy) and they have a tandem instructor that is not heavy it "could" work out. Kinda like a plane when they fill it with fuel, luggage then people. They have to sometimes remove luggage to accommodate the overall weight restrictions. Ultimately it is up to them to say "yes" or "no".
I for one will NOT be jumping out of a plane (especially at a place that an instructor just made a dumb move and killed himself and a student a few weeks ago). Not saying it will ever happen again, but I prefer to do my 120mph while I am on the ground, and I am in control, not some dude riding my tail ;-) I will however be there to hang out.
hahahaha....problems is, I have put on more weight. Damn beer...[/b]

Obviously it's a fluke, but I wouldn't sky dive even if they had a perfect record. I'm sure he had a good reason to do what he did, but I don't want to be in the same situation.

You are not the only one that feels this way. I too would rather be driving, I will never pay someone to jump out of a plane.

From what I know is that the instructor ended up going down wind (Ground Speed= Wind speed + 15 MPH) to avoid another jumper and rather than slidding going pretty quick he made a bad decision and made a low turn into the ground. Pilot error.
