Mountain Cruise on Sunday, March 20th

Postby Learjet45 » Mon Feb 21, 2011 9:14

The cruise and shall be in honor of ryanmmacoustic's grandmother who passed away this morning (March 7th). RIP. it will be rescheduled for March 20th due to the chance for rain/snow along the route for

So after the other thread I posted about getting some interest going for another mountain cruise, it seems like March 13th is turning out to be a good option. I was originally thinking a bit later on as March can be pretty snowy, but it seems like people want one sooner! March 13th is DST, so it could mean some beautiful driving depending on what time we go out.

I think the idea is to meet somewhere out further south. The Great Indoors might be a good option right off I-25 near C-470, or there is a Super Target complex on Lincoln just a bit west of I-25 (like another exit further south from the mall). The goal is to get as many people as possible to go on this cruise, so this will all depend on weather. The weather has been really nice and is supposed to stay really nice for at least the next 10 days according to weather.com, and there hasn't been a ton of snow in general this season, so hopefully it will be nice on the 13th.

Meeting place: Home Depot
4277 S Eldridge Street
Morrison, CO 80465

Possible route (I don't know a whole lot about the mountain roads, heck I've only had my license for 7 months, I just got this from looking at Google Maps):
Start at The Home Depot near C-470 and 285.

 • Take US-285 S to Co Rd 126
 • Turn left at Co Rd 126/Pine Valley Rd
 • Continue to follow Co Rd126
 • Continue onto CO-67 S
 • Turn left at US-24 E
 • Turn right at S 8th St
 • Turn left at W Moreno Ave
 • W Moreno Ave turns right and becomes Sonic View
Total Distance (from The Home Depot to the Sonic) is about 90 miles, and Google Maps says about 2 hrs 10 minutes (add in some more for stopping and taking pictures and what not). So this doesn't have to be an all day thing, but it could easily take 3-4 hours if not more.

Anyone interested in doing this? Add your name if you are!

Nothing is finalized yet! This list is to get an idea of who would like to do this cruise on March 13th (weather permitting). This is to express your interest and is by no means binding, but it would be great if you could come!
