I'm not sure where some of the Mazda parts are made these days, but some European cars go into "limp home" mode which resets after the car is shut down and restarted. My Saab had to be manually reset.

The ECUs are probably based on the same crap coming out of Germany as well. I have also seen some reports of ABS modules going bad on Mazdas prior to warranties expiring. I think it's all a part of the "new" electronic way of doing things. I'd like to go back to cables and vacuum actuation if it would save me the headaches.

:D

Just gotta keep my eye on it and hope it was nothing. Cool thing though, they reflashed my PCM. Said to many customers were complaining about a lack of power. Just the short time i drove it since, I can see a big difference. Maybe thats all it needed.

Did you have any codes? Do you have an OBD II code reader?

Renesis Rx wrote:Yeah I feel the same way. How do you say that it probably needs a new engine then say there's nothing wrong but we reprogramed your computer for you. Like I said it does feel better driving it, but I haven't gotten on it yet. I'll have to take it on I-25 and see how it does.

No it wasn't putting off any codes. No CEL or anything. It was just running like crap. No I don't have a reader.

Didn't get a chance to run it hard today but it was still idling rough at 6 to 7 hundred RPM. Felt a bit low. I remeber it use to idle right between 900 to 1000 rpm.

That's very odd. I guess I'll have to get a rotary someday in order to understand probable causes.

If you have the $$, you can get a Dashhawk for cheap. You could use that to diagnose as you drive.

can't you take it to autozone or checker and have them read it for free?

I could try that. Would it still give a reading without a check engine light?
