Yea we'll probably buy one down there if they got it there, but I found Steve Kan @ Dallas, I dont know if he owns the shop or works there but its called PRTperformance. Also theres another popular shop called RotaryPerformance. We'll called them tomorrow and see which is better than the other.speedjunkie wrote:The wideband reads air/fuel ratio. If you're taking it to a dyno to tune, they probably have a wideband already that they'll put in the exhaust so you wouldn't need to buy one. You could still use it for monitoring while driving though. But if you want to do any street tuning you'd definitely need one.
The young FD dude

Steve flies around and tunes as well, so I'm not sure if he runs the shop or not. We were talking about having him fly up and tune a bunch of people again. Honestly though, Rotary Performance is where I'd go, although I don't know anything about PRTperformance (never heard of it). Ari and Chris really know their stuff. But be warned, they might turn you away if your car isn't squared away to their liking. I talked to Ari a few years ago about tuning my car after Frank left town and I mentioned I built my own engine and didn't check endplay lol, they weren't too excited about tuning me.
I see. Well we're calling up RotaryPerformance because they open early than PRT. Wish us luck to see if theres gonna be another FD rolling around.
Edit: Scratch that plan, we just got done talking to RotaryPerformance and Zico they both said the best way and cheapiest is send the PFC down to RP instead of towing the FD all the way down there, tell them whats in the car (which is stock with non sequential twins) and they'll tweak the map for us. When we are going up to Dallas again pick it up and install it back again
see if it changed. If it still needs a little work, hopefully Zico will help us on installing a wideband, because we dont know how lol. As soon as thats done, hopefully Dave (chickenwafer) can help us on the tune.

Good plan. Installing the wideband isn't too hard, no harder than installing other gauges or a boost controller. The only extra thing is welding the bung to the exhaust and your Dad can do that. Just plan it all out first so you're not having to go back and redo stuff. What I mean is, figure out where you're going to route everything first, paying close attention to the length of the wires. I had to route my wideband through the shifter hole because the cable was too short to run it another way, so my bung is directly below the shifter. If you do that first, it will save you plenty of time and headache.
Thanks Eric, I called you earlier to see if you needed parts to your rebuild at Rotary Performance. BOY! that shop amazed us, the shop was located NE of Dallas little town called Garland, when we went the front of the shop was a ordinary look but when we took a look inside it was awesome, 7s every where, motors that been ported, rebuilt, and 2 20B motors there. Chris and his employees really know their stuff when it comes to rotaries. After telling Chris about the mods we had in the car he rocommended to get a bigger/better fuel pump and little bit bigger injectors to feed the non-sequential twins but he said it'll be fine but thats the next step. Hopefully with this tune I can get it started right away and not flood and replace spark plugs lol. Also we also contacted with Steve Kann and said he needs at least 5 cars and charge around $400+ depending on the car. Couple guys said he bumped up his price and was getting expensive. But IDK about that though, if I do the single turbo conversion, get a J.O.B and if theres any 7s/rotary guys out still rolling around in Colorado that need a tune maybe next spring/summer we can get a group going and see if we can get all tuned lol. Well lets just see though. We are at Louisiana to visit some old friends/family down here and hopefully head up there and be there around thursday/Friday.

Oh I saw you called, I forgot to call you back. My engine is built, now I'm just trying to fix my clutch issue. Rotary Performance is a legit shop for sure.
Yeah I heard Steve's prices went up. Oh well. I might be up for a tune by that time, not sure yet. Talk to Mike B about setting something up. He knows all the rotary guys in Denver and he always talks to Steve about coming up.

Alrighty then we'll just see.
TODAY was the worst day ever!!! We broke down going up to Dallas so we pulled over and checked it out. It made a weird cranking sound so we opened the distributor and check the inside. My dad thinks the timing belt is destroyed. So my dad gave a call to his friend, he told him that if that happened then it could've interfered with the heads and valves in the inside (NOO!!!). So we called a tow truck and arrived less than 20 mins (THANK GOD) and he was also from Colorado and was stationed at Ft Carson he also mention him and my dad both were at Iraq during that time. He took us to a local mechanic shop and the owner examined the engine and told us that 95% chance that it did interfered the inside. Also for engine it would cost maybe 4-5 grand. We couldnt afford it and we had no way to tow it except to get a U-Haul and rent a BIG moving truck (which we had no use for the storage) and a BIG trailer that costed us around $800. More great news gas milege on this thing is 10 mpg awesome! Imagine if we would've tooken my 7 all day way down there!! (Thank GOD for that too). Now we are back on the road and should be home around tomorrow afternoon. I just realized it was Friday the 13t. YAY!! FOR US!

You are joking, right? All that about the valves, heads, timing belt, and "opening up the distributor" is merely a ruse meant to elicit a jovial response from us. Right???
with all sincerity and kindness;
If you truly think that the engine in your rx7 has heads, or a timing belt, or even valves then this is really not the right car for you. Please heed this advice, or you'll end up destroying this beautiful car.

Yea I guess, today we are home first thing I did was hooked up the PFC but no battery so got some jumper cables, hooked up it, and cranked..... and cranked....cranked...cranked.... ughh not again. It stays up to about 100 rpms then dies. Well tomorrow im gonna fill it up with some gas because maybe im because im touching empty. I dont know how we are gonna push start since we dont have the truck operating at the moment. I knew it wasnt gonna start right away since Chris @ RP didnt have the car there and couldn't put the correct numbers in there so he just put a map that was close to the info we gave him. Maybe Chickenwafer (Dave) can help us out once we get the wideband.
