I like the ACR because you can swap the barrels and everything to switch to a different caliber, although the only caliber they make and support right now is 2.23/5.56,but they said they'll be making more soon. They sell the SCAR in 5.56 and 7.62. I was thinking the SCAR could be changed to fire different calibers too but I might have forgotten and be getting them confused.

I'm still planning on getting a SCAR, an AR-10, and keep working on the WWII collection. And probably some other different types of rifles too, like an MSAR STG and some other stuff.

Chris said he got the over boost issue figured out and didn't even need the springs lol. He said he'd work on the labor cost to help me with some of the cost of shipping the springs. He said each wastegate had a .6 bar spring and another spring which he took out and now the gate is at 10psi by itself. The vacuum line I had incorrectly hooked up went from the solenoid on the turbo to the UIM and it wouldn't vent causing the over boost problem, so he removed it. Along with that and removing the extra springs he inverted the output in the ECU and it's working now. He said Syvecs rewrote the code for traction control to cut ignition instead of fuel, for which I'm very happy because fuel cut is not the way to go for a rotary. He also said they should have the OMP situation sorted soon too, but we'll be premixing for now.

He said he's going to dial in the closed loop boost control and get high load fuel roughed in, then drain the tank and fill with E85 and repeat the process. Then put it on the dyno again to do some pulls to get power numbers.

Sounds like pretty good news all around.

I always like hearing simple resolutions to seemingly difficult issues.

I like the scar quite a bit. You are right about the ACR being adaptable, but my quick look showed compatibility for the the normal 5.56 and the 6.8 spcII. Supposedly a very good long range caliber. Given the close relationship of the 300bo to the 5.56, that has to be in the pipe if it isn't available already. Great caliber to shoot subsonic out of a short barrel and suppressed. If you like that sort of thing.

Yeah I'm planning on going to get the car the end of this month, and then maybe staying home for a few weeks for another family reunion on Sept 19th. I don't plan to do much work to it, if any. I'm still deploying again in November I guess, so I want to drive it as long as I can before I leave. Unfortunately this leaves me no winter downtime to do the work I want to do, but I probably wouldn't want to do it when it's that cold anyway haha.

I picked up the ACR today. I already broke it down and reassembled it haha. Pretty similar to the AR. And REALLY easy to swap the barrels once they start making others. 6.8 along with many other calibers from what I've heard, but we'll see. And to add to what you said, I like ALL those sorts of things. lol

I got an email from Chris today. He said he finally got some good weather so he took the car out and it made good boost and has good boost control. He said he's taking it back to the dyno to finish it up and would let me know when he had some numbers. I asked if he could get a dyno printout and he said the printer is broken but he takes a pic of it, that's fine by me haha.

I was shopping for springs last night and Andy told me today that he found some rear springs for sale so I'm planning on picking those up if they're still available, and I'll look for some used front springs as well. Might as well, I have plenty of time, I'm not sure why I didn't think of looking for used ones before.

I messaged Benny Mui of BubbleTech this morning because I had bought a map pocket lid from him back in early June. Or at least I thought I did haha. I hadn't received it yet, but come to find out I guess the payment never went through even though I could swear I got the order confirmation page. Oh well. So I ordered it along with a tshirt and a few stickers today.

I was able to get the rear hatch cover back and in good shape. I put it under the rear seat of one of the trucks bringing our stuff back from Vegas haha.

I think that's all the updates for now.

Here's the ACR.

And Chris emailed today and said I may want to get a new FPR sooner rather than later. He is still having problems with the turbo speed sensor at cruising speeds so he took a log and sent it to Syvecs and they emailed him asking if he'd seen the fuel pressure haha. In the pic below you can see the green line is the fuel pressure at 10psi of boost, and it SHOULD be a fairly flat line. So he ordered a Turbosmart FPR for me and I'll worry about mounting it when I get the car back.

After talking to my bosses today I discovered that I can't leave to get the car until Sept 6th at the earliest, so I told Chris. He said that the guys at Syvecs, Ryan and Pat, got the turbo sensor and the OMP working. WOOHOO!! And that maybe it would all be done before I get there to get the car. If that all works out as planned, I'll stay a couple extra weeks at home to make it to another family reunion on the 19th and then bring the car back and be ready for some cruises lol.

Yeah I'm hoping to be there, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to make it. What do you want me to bring? I can make Rudy's cream corn lol.

Cool! Will do, then.

Chris texted today and said the new FPR is installed and it's working well but he's going to do more testing, but for now the log looks good from regular driving. I'll have to hard-mount it still (unless he rigged up a mount) and install the pressure gauge.

I also just now bought the seats from Wine Country Motorsports, free shipping for orders over $100 and under 100lbs too! Suzuka Pro GT in black, and I think these might be all suede too, which I wasn't expecting. We'll see though.

I also got my plane tickets today and put in for leave starting on Sept 6th so I can go back and get the car. I'm also going to Ohio to see my buddy from Japan that got me more into RX-7s, I haven't seen him in about 15 years. He had an FC that he would drag race every weekend, had about 650whp. Still probably the fastest car I've ever been in.

And Zico and our other friend Miguel sent me this today and said they saw it on Instagram lol. Zico said it was up to 20k likes tonight. I'm building this car for myself to my liking but I'd be lying if I said it didn't feel good that other people like it too lol.

Oh yeah, I've also been thinking more about getting my current wheels widened because I'm not sure how long it's gonna be until the 3pc ones are actually made. However, I was trying to move away from using spacers because the new wheels won't need spacers either, and that way I could swap back and forth if I wanted. But I'm not sure it's possible to add material to the center of the wheel where it mounts. And if I did that, I'd need longer lugs which I could swap out when I do the new brakes and ducting plates. And Alvin is still waiting for me to figure out where I'm going to source the lips and barrels for the wheels so he can put whichever measurement into the CAD, and I think I've decided to just go with AMC Rim Halves. They never answer their phone and never call back, but it seems like a lot of people use them. I've thought about just buying a lip just to see what it's like and how fast it arrives, etc. I'm just worried about customer service if I can't ever get ahold of them.

I also started talking to a guy on facebook that has a car audio/entertainment business about building a CarPC for me, but this chinese thing has a lot of what I'm looking for lol. And it looks like Syvecs is almost finished with the Android version of their app.

I started looking at dash cams last night and ended up staying up until about 3am lol. I've been looking at them a bit again tonight but I'm going to bed soon. I've found some cool ones that record not just front but the rear as well. I'm currently looking at a couple different models from BlackVue. They're kinda pricy, but they're also very cool.

Alright, now onto the big news. Chris texted today with the dyno results, from a heartbreaker Dyno Dynamics dyno. Sure, I could cry about low numbers, but I'd rather they be more realistic than inflated like Dynojet. Although I'm not really sure which ones are more realistic to be honest lol, but at least if you say it was on a heart breaker there is a chance they could be even better and people won't say you're being too optimistic. One note though, these pics show numbers lower than what he told me, but I'm just saying what he told me. Maybe it reads 10hp lower or something.

On pump gas it made 370whp at 16psi. I figure that's not too bad considering it's pump gas and I was running 24psi previously lol. He said it would be about 415 on a Dynojet. These three pulls are at 12, 14, and 16psi.
Image

On E85 it made 450whp at 20psi, and when he turned it up to 24psi it had ignition breakup. I asked him how I could fix that and he hasn't responded yet. I don't know if he's going to look into it or let it go as is. He said this would be 500+ on a Dynojet. These two pulls are at 20 and 24psi. He accidentally erased the 16psi plot.
Image

All in all, I kinda wish the numbers were higher but I'm not really displeased either. Those boost levels are lower than what I was planning on running, but he told me he has it set at 14psi for an every day pump gas tune and he believes that's a good idea to stay there. What I'm REALLY happy about is the curve, until it hits about 7k anyway and drops off. He said that's due to the stock ports. I told him the street ports were the same way before and I thought it was the turbo running out of breath, but he said the turbo still has more to go and said it's definitely the stock ports. Either way, the numbers are only one part of the equation, and even then they aren't that bad.

I wouldn't be disappointed with those results. With our power-to-weight ratio, that's nothing to sneeze at. Besides, more (expensive) things start to break when you start to fiddle around the 600whp territory.

I'm all in for that battle of 7's. I'll even remove 4 spark plugs to make it a fair race, j/k :)
