Yeah, I went out there today. It definitely is a remote area, but it's nice...not a likely home for a thief. You never know, but I didn't see the car anyway. HOWEVER...I did hear that there was a car just like mine at the Sonic meet on Alameda today. I'm thinking there's another FD like mine with a FMIC that's running around Denver...

You know I had a crazy thought earlier. What if a cop-gone-bad abused their power to take my car? I'd like to have more faith in our police force but it sure would explain a lot...like the fact that I never received a ticket for leaving it parked in the street for two weeks (I wasn't aware this is illegal), but another vehicle did...the fact that the windows weren't broken into and it was most likely towed away...and the fact that the investigative office STILL hasn't assigned a detective to my case a week after the fact, and will not return my calls. Think about it...an officer could probably have it towed away on the grounds that it's an abandoned vehicle, but not record it, and nobody would be the wiser.
Also, I discovered last night that my address IS searchable on Yahoo. So anyone who knew my full name and knew that I owned the car could have taken it. There weren't very many people that fall into that category that I'm aware of, and none that I don't trust...but it still means that theoretically anybody could have taken it. Anyhow, I'm learning to accept the fact that the car is gone and I most likely won't get it back...now I've just got to fight with my insurance company to get my money. I don't know why but apparently the only claims adjuster I can speak with works EXACTLY the same hours I do and takes lunch at EXACTLY the same time, so I've got to go out of my way to get this taken care of. Can't anything be simple?

I doubt (as I'm sure you do) that there was a less than honest police office involved. Granted, I know that when my Yukon broke down on I-25, and I went back to get it the next day, it was gone. I called the police and nobody new a thing about it, and said I'd have to file a report. When I went to file a report, a different person looked up the info, and said "oh, it was towed here"...they relocated it to a side street. I walked over, got in, and drove on home (damn fuel pump).

Hey Ranger, I was one of the Montego Blue FDs at the Sonic meet Sunday night, and I guarantee you the other guy's isn't your old FD. He and I have both had ours since 04. It really pisses me off that this happened. I was just thinking how nice it would be to catch a glimpse of your car going down the road, following the guy and beating his ass when he finally stops. I don't mean merely hitting him a couple times, I mean leaving him paralyzed. That's if he's the one that stole it, not if he bought it from the thief not knowing it was hot, hahaha. I can't stand thieves, they should be castrated. All of us FD owners in the Springs are keeping our eyes open for you, I hope you find it. I didn't even know you were selling it. Where in NC did you buy it from? I just moved out here from Fayetteville, NC in April, I might know who you got it from.
Well, what do you know! I got a call from the Aurora police last night saying that they had found my car. Apparently the thieves took it to an apartment complex and parked it illegally. The complex called a tow truck, who called the police, who told the driver it was stolen. I'm going to the impound lot tomorrow...I just hope it wasn't abandoned due to a blown engine. The officer couldn't tell me anything about the condition of the engine bay / whether or not parts were ripped out, because the doors were locked. If it's not running, I have no idea what I'll do with it...obviously not going to put it back out on the street.
Anyone got some garage space I can use temporarily??
(I'll pay)
Thanks for looking out everyone! Speedjunkie, I bought it from a guy in Charlotte. If the car is still in good running condition, I'll have to come meet up with you CO Springs guys some time before it gets too nasty outside

Well it's official, I'm going to look at it tonight. Then my insurance company is going to tow it to one of their salvage yards so they can have an appraiser come look at it. The only thing that sucks is that my comp coverage doesn't include aftermarket parts, only factory...so if the motor is blown I'm pretty much out of pocket on that
The seals and such are not factory parts...HOWEVER if the turbos are shot, I should be able to get new ones!
