I haven't posted in a while, but I haven't really done much with the car either lol. I don't remember what I last posted about, but even after pulling the engine and resealing the oil pan, it's still burning/losing oil. It looked like all leaks (aside from the weird condition of oil coming from between the housings and plates) had gone the way of the dodo, but tonight I was under the car and noticed it's leaking from the oil pan again, where it was before. At least it looks like it's leaking from the pan. Actually it looks like it's coming from the engine stud on the right rear. And since there is oil coming from between the housings and plates (meaning it's most likely coming from where the studs pass through), I'm wondering if boy genius engine builder used RTV or something instead of the o-rings that are supposed to go around the studs. This is getting ridiculous.
Anyway, Dave came down yesterday and did some tuning. Thanks Dave! lol Anyway, we discovered the springs in the wastegates were too strong because I was hitting the fuel cut at 1.7 bar (Friday night I hit 1.95 bar by 5150rpm lol), with or without the EBC being on. Yikes. Alright, so I changed the springs tonight. Looks like the springs that were in there made it possible for me to hit 36psi lol. When Dave was here he got it running great, even the idle, which we switched to manual...that way the idle is only controlled by the throttle body adjustments I make instead of the PFC trying to compensate with timing, etc. After Dave left...back to freakin hunting for idle. WTF!?!? My car hates me. I also adjusted some idle settings using the PFC, so I'll test all this either tonight or tomorrow.

I started the car this morning and it didn't even want to run, much less idle. I had to keep my foot on the gas. I changed the fuel cut idle settings back down quite a bit, turned the bleed air screw out about half a turn and turned the throttle plate screw on the front down a bit just to try to keep it running. It started up pretty quick that time and it idled, so I adjusted the throttle plate screw back up to where it wasn't holding them open at all, left the bleed air screw where it was and left the fuel cut settings the way they were. I took it for a drive and it held really well. The only time it stumbled was when I would come from high throttle/boost straight to idle and coasting. Other than that, it held like a champ. Now I just have to make sure it will start and idle again when cold and see if it acts the same when it's raining and whatnot LOL, since it seems to act differently in different types of weather. I'd also like to see if we can get the idle AFRs up to 13 or so instead of 11s.
It's also boosting perfectly now. Well, other than the EBC not stopping it where it should haha. I'm over boosting, but it seems pretty consistent so if I can't figure out how to set the EBC to compensate for it I'll just compensate for it myself. But the boost is way more linear and usable now.

test drive to castle rock and I'll get you a burger.
I'll probably go to Denver on Saturday in the morning, maybe I'll stop by on my way back or something.
Yes it definitely hasn't always been easy though haha.

Let me know if you are going to stop through. Could meet at a burger place. My suggestion is above.
I'll be heading to the MMA matches in Denver Saturday evening. A freind of a freind is competing. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvISaMjlImM&feature=related"]Josh Cavan Highlight Reel - YouTube[/ame]

I keep forgetting to post this, but I got my rebuild kit and apex seals last week. I should be getting my irons this week, probably Thursday or Friday. I'll probably start pulling the engine this week and tearing it down so it's ready to rebuild.
So anyone that wants to come over and check it out or help, swing on by closer to the end of the week.

Since the engine will be coming out soon, I decided to go ahead and make the ducting for the VMIC. This is what I have so far...

I'm going to bolt it all in tomorrow night, but right now it fits pretty much perfectly. I'd rather have one piece but I'm not sure if I'd be able to do it even if I had the right size materials to work with, due to the funny bends and all.

Finished mocking up the ducting tonight. I have to get different bolts to attach it to the radiator though, I don't have enough room to get the allen wrench into the current bolt, so I need to get a regular bolt so I can put a wrench on it. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Although there is a gap I didn't notice until it was finished haha. It's alright though. I can always cover that little bit with some of that metal ducting tape stuff. You can see the gap in this view from inside the engine bay.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to put some ducting along the rear too to block air from escaping between the IC and radiator. Although I have my power steering cooler that I'm putting there and it'll need air.

I was thinking about ducting the other side, but I'm not going to because the air filter will need that large opening and I probably couldn't make ducting that would give the filter enough air and force air through the VMIC.

I also got my irons back tonight, WOOHOO!! They look so good I want to get new housings though too haha. Looks like they have new freeze plugs. I'm also planning to paint them before building the engine, but I almost just wanna rebuild it and forget painting them haha.

I thought it was odd that Chip cut off the coolant nipple and put this plug in. I wanted to do this but I didn't bring it up to him. So that's awesome.

And I'm not sure if the gold/brass colored parts are new or just painted lol.

More plugs...
