Haha Eric knows everything!
I can't believe I missed a Panspeed Titanium system for $900 bones....I would have bought it for sure! Someone was selling an HKS 4" titanium system for a good deal ($1300 IIRC) but they refused to ship it since the midpipe and catback are one piece so it's roughly 8 feet long haha. That also kind of sucks it's one piece because I like my resonated midpipe. Plus I've heard the HKS 4" system is LOUD.
There was also a Knightsports FS780ii full titanium catback for sale as well not too long ago (might even be for sale still) for around $1k but it wasn't in the best shape, especially for a grand.
That's the great thing about the FD, there are PLENTY of exhaust system choices, and I will probably go through about 10 of them at least, unless I really find one I like.

i wasnt turbo anymore so there was no point in me buying em. so i bought work wheels and other crap instead. kinda regret it though but oh well you live and you learn
yea, those hks systems are really loud but sound soo nice lol
buut i used to have the greddy power extreme a couple fcs ago. dual straight piped on that system was suprisingly quiet for what it was. still kinda loud but only above 3k or so. best exhaust ive ever gotten. might get it again for this car if i can find one lol

Cats out of the bag, new exhaust is...St May's Shotgun dual's!

Obviously, very HUGE and massive exhaust system! I think it weights about as much as the stock catback haha (UPS billing weight was 41lbs), so I probably gained 18-20lbs over my old Blitz system (which is still for sale BTW!!). However, the fit and finish of this exhaust system is excellent!

Also, the only thing aggressive about this exhaust is the way it looks. It's just a few dB's louder than the OEM catback I think (although it's been a while since I heard it). I could probably ditch my resonated midpipe and run a straight pipe to get it back up to a more aggressive tone, but I'll hold off and see how I like it for now.
I just took it for a quick spin around the neighborhood and it felt pretty good. It's odd because I hear the turbos over the exhaust note now, which hasn't happened since the car was basically stock I believe. It's such a drastic change (noise level wise) that I have to wait a few days before I can pass judgment, but looks wise I'm VERY pleased. It's very aggressive, I just love how it looks. Ive always been a fan of the Apex'i N1 duals but they sound like shit, so this is a great alternative. It's sad because St May's shut down their operation in Japan in 2004 IIRC so coming across this exhaust is rather difficult.
A few more pics, yes I know my garage is dirty!

any pics of the underside of the car?
My intake (stock) is louder than my muffler (RB). My old muffler was stock and rusted out so it was louder than the muffler I have now.

I was going to take some pictures of it before I installed it but I got too excited and just put it on haha. So no I don't have pics, sorry. The entire underc body is pretty oily now anyways thanks to the seeping oil pan. grrrr.

No cutting, it fits, but barely. But yes, it's beastly. Thanks!

These are actually very quiet, not loud at all. My Blitz NUR Spec was MUCH louder and had much more drone to it. These are real quiet. Even with a straight pipe it won't be too loud, if even louder than the Blitz on the OEM cat pipe. I can't believe how quiet they are!
My secondary turbo also dumped about a quart of oil at least when I went on my little test drive. I'm thinking I need to get moving on the single turbo swap sooner than later...I might have to do it on the cheap and just do the manifold, turbo, downpipe, wastegate, and oil supply for the turbo and that's it, and wait to upgrade the clutch and more fuel. Even though I'll have 1300cc secondaries and the Supra pump which will be good to about 410rwhp, my clutch will give out long before that haha.
I'm just concerned about emissions. I'll either have to hope they stop doing emissions here this summer (which is a real possibility according to the grape vine) or I'll have to fly past those emissions sniffing vans and hope to pass that way. Otherwise I have to put the OEM cat on and hope I can tune out emissions without AWS, EGR, charcoal canister, double throttle, an air pump (although I have an electric one I can rig up), all on a standalone EMS...

You guys swap all the time haha! But it's usually you who buys the cool new stuff then when you get bored with it you pass it on to them!
Well, I'm debating what turbo to get and it's difficult haha. Obviously I'm trying to strike a balance between spool and top end power. But, as the car is setup right now and with the fuel system I have, it's only good to around 410rwhp anyways until I get larger secondaries. But I also don't want to have swap turbos all the time.
So I'm considering the following:
-Precision SC6262 billet, S4 4" inlet 2" discharge compressor cover, T4 0.84A/R divided turbine housing, 3" v-band discharge
-Garrett 60-1 (T04S), same 0.84A/R T4 Divided turbine housing, 3" v-band discharge
-The ever popular GT35R with a 0.84A/R T4 divided turbine housing. Of course we know Garrett doesn't supply GT35's with a true T4 housing, as they are just T3 housing with cast-in T4 flanges. Although I'm not too concerned with this, it could hurt top-end power some day.
-An alternative to the GT35R is the GT35R Stave V from Turblown, where they take a standard GT35R and put on a true T4 divided 0.84A/R housing on it with a self-centering 3" v-band flange. This is a hyrbid and it spools slower than a standard GT35R (not by much) but it will yield more top end potential due to the true T4 housing. It also cost more.
-Last turbo I'm looking at is the Borg Warner S366XL. It's hard to compare BW turbos to most other turbos so getting a good idea of this turbos size is difficult but it flows about 80lbs/min which is probably too big for me at this point.

I'm pretty sure I decided on a turbo, a Garrett "TD61" from Turblown, which is a hybrid GT35R and 60-1. Essentially a GT35R with a better flowing turbine so more top end potential thanks to it's true T4 divided housing.
I'm excited about it because every dyno I look at has this turbo spooling around 2800rpm and getting full boost at about 3500rpm, which is great for a street turbo as it builds boost steadily and predictably. It also seems to produce good torque quickly. 14psi should put me around 375rwhp and 20-24psi is around 475rwhp so I think it's a good option for me. Also, it's not too expensive so I think this will be a great turbo.
I just now need to sell my parts so I can start work on this!
Also, I drove my car with the new exhaust today as well and noticed some nasty vibration. Got to work and checked it and the two mufflers have a tab that is tack welded to each can. One of the tack welds broke so the mufflers could "wiggle" around on their own, so they were vibrating against each other. Also, the heat shield was slightly contacting the right muffler causing some noise. And finally, the right mufflers exhaust hanger was rubbing against a piece of plastic causing some noise as well.
So I busted out the welder and did a simple tack to hold the two cans together, no problem, and no more vibration. Trimmed and bent the heat shield out of the way so no more rubbing/contact on the right muffler. Finally, I put a large rubber vacuum cap on the rubbing exhaust hanger so now no more vibration.
Test drove the car after completing some of those housekeeping mods and it's super quiet now. It's very weird, I really don't hear much, if any, exhaust noise now at all. Secondary turbo is still dumping oil like BP in the Gulf...
I'm thinking the exhaust will be more aggressive with the catless midpipe I have. Only problem is I cut it up to put the failed Magnaflow cat in it. I've never welded stainless with my little wire feed MIG before but I decided to practice on it. Cleaned it up real good and got some good tacks all around the pipe to hold it together well and so I could weld it in sections. Took my time and experimented with different settings and I think it actually turned out OK. The welds aren't the prettiest out there but they're strong and have good penetration- not bad for welding flux core I think, and for my first time on stainless. So I might throw on the straight pipe in to see if I like the sound more with it now.
