I bet the fuel filter does have a bunch to do with it, I didn't realise it hasn't been changed. That's usually one of the first things I do when I get a used car.

Christi, I had told you about the broken intake air temp sensor and said it was probably causing the CEL.

Pat was meticulous and well equipped! He did all the work on Christi's RX7. I just stood around with my hands in my pockets and watched (just like Christi). Thanks for helping out Pat. My candidate for new guy on the CMZC who jumps in and helps award.....of the year......prize.

And for most likely to not bring I/C when he said he would and then forgot.....

Jon does a good one revealing himself haha.
Chris- yes. That's how pat found out. I told him
About the disconnect wire. He texted me last night and found his parts from his S5 for the thermo sensors. Yay!

Well stopping by while on the beach! Haha thanks again Pat for looking after her ;)

Tonight after work I had some time to look into things. changed the fuel filter (it was the original one Christi) that made a huge difference. No more hunting idle. then i smoke checked the intake. found 3 (possibly more) vacuum leaks. 2 were from the secondary butterfly valve shaft seals (each side) the backside I was able to fix with RTV on the thermopelet for fast idle cam. the front one all I could do was smear hylomar on and hope for the best. The 3rd (4th, 5th, etc) is from under the LIM, so I'll need to remove that to find the rest. (get rid of all un-necessary engine components as well) :D
That will probably happen Saturday.
I also found an E-fan off of an Ford Taurus SHO that almost covers the radiator. I am going to try to install that tomorrow if I have time. Temp needle is still staying at the halfway mark at this altitude so no worries yet.

Cliffnotes:
-changed fuel filter
-repaired 2 vacuum leaks
-found other vacuum leaks

Vehicle now idles at 450-ish. low, but steady.

I may be able to help you out saturday, I am mechanically inclined but not a rotary guru although I would like to. I'll post later on this week after I check my schedule.

ugh, So tonight I found out that the leading igniter is DOA.
**If anyone has a spare leading coil igniter please contact me. (don't absolutely need the coil, just module the coil is mounted to)

other news:
fixed the oil leak from the filter pedestal (and did the oil change Christi :D )
advanced the timing to bump idle to 550-ish

prepped for unnecessary engine part removal on sat.

Did you just forget to tell everyone about the leading igniter? That could be causing most of your problems.
