I ended up with NANKANG TOURSPORT's. The Falken's were discontinued. Discount tire didn't even tell me. I had the tires mounted and everything, they still didn't tell me I was getting the nankang tires. When I got the car home, I looked at the tread pattern and thought I don't remember it looking like that, than I realized they weren't the right tire. I drove back to discount tire and said I didn't order nankang tires. They just said the nankang tires are more expensive so we figured you wouldn't mind.

Turns out I only have one tire available for my car.

From what I have read the nankangs are good on dry and light snow but really bad in the rain. They have done well in the snow we've been getting, no problems at all. I have not tested then in the rain.

It looks to be a great weekend for the heater core install.

That's messed up! They're lucky you didn't want to take it further.

My dash is about half way back in. I already swapped the heater core back out. I should have the car going again in about an hour or so. I'll do that in the morning.

This is killing me haha. Here you are finishing up your car, and I'm sitting here in my room DYING to do some maintenance and just frothing at the mouth thinking about this next summer, hoping that maybe it's THIS year that'll be like the summer of 2008 lol.

When are you back in town?

My car is back together and no more coolant leaks.

Well I definitely have no more coolant leaks so no more pulling the dash for a very long time. It is amazing how warm the heater gets when there isn't any leaks.

I need to find a good cruise control switch (dash one). It had been acting up and not working all the time. I took it apart to clean it and now it doesn't work at all, lol.

I just replaced my battery. The old one was still good, just not strong enough. I'm going to save it for the Galaxie.

The old battery is a Deca and has 630 CA and 550 CCA. The new in an Interstate MEGA-TRON PLUS with 800 CA and 640 CCA. I really hope this fixes my cold start problem, I think it will. Every time it gets below 20 deg F, the car barely turns over. This morning was 34 so I really didn't get to test it but it did start faster than it ever has.

I also got a cruise control switch but I haven't has a chance to install it yet.

Well cold starting seems to be fine now. I believe I still need to have the injectors rebuilt but I plan to wait till the spring.

I washed my car yesterday afternoon and it started snowing 2 hours later.

What makes you think you need your injectors cleaned and why does it seem like rotary engines and direct injection engines have more issues with injectors?

Less technical question: Do you drive your car in the snow?

Rotaries are very prone to Spark plug fouling due to the fuel air charge being dragged across the spark plug before the ignition fires, so a leaking injector can cause some hard starting issues, also has the same effect of washing down the liner causing poor compression like it does in piston engines.
As for GDI I think its just due to the injectors operating inside the combustion chamber with 2000+psi fuel pressure behind them. That is some harsh environment.

I do drive my car in the snow.

Now that I got the new battery, my cold start problem seems to be solved. Where I'm still having problems is the hot start. I can get it to start every time now but it tries to flood a little on hot start.

Before I sealed the gas tank, I was having the fuel filters clog up to the point that the car wouldn't run. I can only assume that some of the debris made it to the injectors. I've already checked all the other possibilities for the hot start problem.
