Any plans on motor work?

I know on those LS6 motors just an intake manifold, good set of headers (which you'll need anyways), bored TB, lightweight crank pulley, and good tuning you can pick up some serious power.

Add a cam and fudgitaboutit. Easily another 150-rwhp or more.

How much do you plan on spraying?

It's a lq9 out of a 02 Escalade. Iron block. 10:1 compression. 345hp.

The ls6 I ordered arrived with a nice crack in the block, so this is the replacement I went with.

Im going to keep the engine basically stock with headers.

150 shot.

Nice daily driver. I dont want to break axles or run 9 sec quarter mile. Car looks beautiful and I want to drive it everyday.

Sounds like fun.

Even though I still strongly believe putting anything but rotary power in an RX is sacrilege, I can't deny the attractiveness of reliable and affordable brute power.

If I did it I would probably go all out tho- twin turbo, built motor, shoot for 1000rwhp LOL. Go big or go home! But then it wouldn't be anymore reliable than a 550rwhp rotary haha.

Or drop in an LS9....hmmmm

Just an extra set of apex seals that can break.

Anything can break- apex seals, side seals, housings, piston rings, ring lands, complex valvetrains, etc

It's all in the matter of the tune. No matter what internal combustion engine we talk about- the more work you ask it to do (power), the more heat is produced, and the narrower the window becomes for error. This is why the Bugatti Veyron has 8 radiators, and your car has one.

20B engine failures are lower, partly due to the less of them in circulation, but also most people operate them at around 500-600rwhp, which isn't asking for that much.

Now, if you operate a 2-rotor at those power levels, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of WHEN it's going to give up. I think you'd be happy to get 10,000 miles of abuse out of a 500rwhp 13B.

And the new project is lsx rx8. Just picked her up and all the parts for the swap plus ls1/t56 combo with 50k miles on it.
