So last sunday I've got another rx7 but this time it's a 88 vert and i love it.I'll post pics later. So I have a minor problem with it and it is the fan. It's not the first time I've seen this type of setup but I think it's plain stupid to manually switch on the fan when the car is at a stop and getting heated. So that being said any tips on buying a new fan? Are univeral fans ok or what do I need to look for? I was told by my teacher to buy a kit on summit racing but I don't know which or what to look for.

Summit sells a kit that had a probe, you stick that in the radiator and it will turn on the fans automatic for you. Ideally you want to fix the problem the right way by letting the edu do it but if that can't be done them I'll go with a universal kit.

You need the highest CFM fan possible for these cars. I actually used a 90-95 Taurus 3.8 fan. They are one of the best fans put in a car fron the factory and really easy to find.

These guys are right on. If you're on the stock ecu, you'll have to either build a temperature control circuit or buy one and install it. One thing I will add is one of the biggest flaws in most electric fan conversions is poor shrouding. The electric fan should draw air through the entire radiator.. not just the small round circle of the fan. Otherwise a large portion of the radiator is rejecting heat by conduction, free convection and radiation instead of forced convection.. Forced convection is by far more efficient.

I picked up the fan at the U Pull & Pay for $15. http://www.upullandpay.com/

Made sure you grab the plug with with about 6" of withing with it. It makes the install much easier.

I like the sensor setup better that the probe setup because you are getting a much better reading of temp of the motor. I ran an FC water pump so the setup would be basically the same. I installed sensor on the back side of the water pump housing. I can help you with the install.
