looking for an experienced rotary tuner

Postby Wankel88 » Thu Apr 04, 2013 9:14

I live in the springs area and am willing to drive out a few hours away. I'm looking to get a dyno tune so I can get some numbers. I use the power FC. Let me know peeps. Thanks

I've looked around and keep hitting dead-ends in regards to rotary tuners around here... I just got a 93 RX7 and will be installing an engine with a PFC in the next week. I really don't want to blow this thing up once installed...

Any of you found a tuner yet??

Update: I just found these guys:

PFI Speed
5720 South Bueno Drive
Fort Collins CO 80525
970-377-2216

Any of you have experience with them?

I do believe chickenwafer can help out.

He doesn't have his FD anymore, but I do believe he's kinda been the go-to member for tuning stuff.
I'm sure someone has his contact info. Probably speedjunkie or GR-8 and a few others.

Yea I looked at Revolutions. I used to get my STi tuned there. They don't touch PFC tuning on the rotaries unfortunately... It looks like I'll be doing it myself.

Hi Guys,

I am not claiming to be the rotary tuner master, but I did tune my single turbo car myself with the powerFC. I used an Innovate LM-1 wideband and have a datalogit. I could help some people tune their cars if you need help. My car turned out very well.

I actually got a map from someone who had Steve Kahn tune their car, and honestly, they have about the same settings. so I did a pretty good job on mine. runs smooth as silk at all engine loads, idles well at AFR 12.7-13.0. Base map looks great.

PM me and I am willing to walk anyone through it or help you physically tune the car.

Steve Kan will come out for a big enough group (6-10) they used to do this back in the day, not sure if it was the same guy or not. i think you gotta find your own dyno though, not sure about travel arrangements.

I'm up for a street tune at least bring down my rpms and fuel cut I'm not looking for increase of hp I just want my car to run smooth.

See the thing about Steve Kan is I spoke with him on the phone, and I'm not gonna lie I love saving $$$ but jeez the guy is expensive almost $500 per person (plus flight ticket) then you gotta worry about dyno cost because some shops don't even allow you to use their equipment for free. I mean the guy knows what he's doing but I talked to him last year though and now I guess people were telling me his prices raised up... Ill get tuned from him once I go single turbo & meth/water injection all those types of goodies.

Eric does most his tuning on his pfc and had dave otherwise known on here as chickenwafer help him out with it. You can find their posts especially chickenwafer on some of the very basics of the tuning. As for me I got a Microtech and I am hating it till I can afford an upgrade.

I have a buddy who has tuned a few rotaries (and numerous other cars) that I'm trying to convince to come out and finish the tune on my car. He would be down to tune a few others so its worth his time and our money to have him come out. He was tuning my e85 fed single turbo on the PFC before I moved. If we all want to set up a day that works with him I know he would be down.
