This seems like a logical approach. I'll need to get a connector so I can hook up the AEM to my laptop; it should have all the readouts of water temp, air temp, MAP, A/F, etc.

I will say my biggest weakness is around timing. I've never been able to quite wrap my head around it, and I know Don did a lot of work on the ignition system--basically none of it is stock anymore, it's all aftermarket, including the CAS. But the CAS is an AEM CAS, so it's not totally custom. He did say though that setting the timing with my CAS was somehow different from the stock CAS, but this CAS should actually be a lot more accurate than the 25 year old one the FC came with originally.

Do you have any more ideas for things to write down? I guess I can just try and explain in detail all of the problems and exactly how they're happening and what observations I can make about them.

I think once I get these results I'll post a new thread and link to it here.

Yeah, I think it would be a lot to ask to get a bunch of people together at once, and to be honest I think it's probably better to have a smaller group. Don't want to have too many cooks in kitchen so to speak. :)

Also, super ironically, I just had someone on RX7 club say that in the Rocky Mountain Rotary club page on Facebook, apparently Don himself of all people said he's be willing to help me out. Not quite sure how to react to that, lol.

It's not so bad getting people together if

1. It's been a while since we've gotten together and
2. You don't drive too far to the meet spot

So because it's been a while since we've gotten together coupled with we'll drive further to get together, it's tough to say haha. I agree though, sometimes it's easier with less people.

Most of us will probably never stop caring about rotaries, but we all get discouraged from time to time and need a little boost from others. That's what we're here for :)

It's about 45 minutes to my place from the Springs]do you still have all the stock stuff?[/quote]Yes and no. I think I still have my stock injectors lying around somewhere, but I think Don got rid of my old coils and wires. I don't think I have the stock CAS anymore, I think we cannibalized it to make the AEM CAS. I have and don't have other parts, like I don't think I have the stock turbo or top mount intercooler for example. What did you have in mind?

I'm guessing that is the CAS drive I machined for Don awhile back. If it turns out to be the problem I will make any repairs, adjustments to make it right for you.

I mean, the CAS seems really solid. I'll let you know if I have any issues with it. If you have insights into what's different about it compared to the stock CAS, I'm all ears. I remember Don telling me it had a bit of a different setup from the stock FC CAS, but I can't really remember any specifics.

I sincerely hope to return to the scene someday with another RX-7; I'm addicted to rotary and always will be! But as I said in my FS thread, I'm also moving to New Mexico so even if I kept it I'd be leaving this club. :/
