Throughout the summer I'm going to be doing some painting to my engine... like when I get my CAI, sway bar and a few other things under the hood. I know I'm going to need a heat restistant paint, but does autozone/pep boys carry this kind of paint in different colors... hopefully pink?
And is there a special kind of paint that I should be getting. This is all new to me, so please forgive me if these are stupid questions.

Unless you're actually painting engine pieces (engine block, cylinder head, exhaust...) then I don't think you'll need a high temp paint. It gets hot under the hood, but not really THAT hot. As far as finding "pink" paint..... you're going to have to look around. Maybe try going to an autobody place and getting them to mix you up a couple cans of pink in spray cans. Or are you going to brush it on?

Spray would be best..

As of right now the only things I really have planned to paint is the CAI tube, sway bar, and then I'm going to redo the hosing in white or silver. I dont want a lot in pink, it would be over done. On the outside I'm painting the calipers and lowering springs pink.

The sway bar or the strut tower bar?

And the springs will be pretty much useless- you'll never see them except when the car is jacked up with the wheel removed.

Here's your pink brake caliper paint:

You might be able to use this stuff for your other painting needs as well.

sway bars...

that's exactly the color I'm looking for, and not a horrible price.. wonder if I can't find it in an auto shop store a little cheaper though...

The only reason I'm doing the springs is for later, I eventually want this to be a show car... So I want everything to go together, unless I can buy some white ones.. then I'd be good.

If that's all you're going to do, then you should be OK without using high temp paint. If you're gonna paint anything that's somewhat close to the turbo, then you'll want it, or you'll get discoloration/flaking over time. My suggestion would be to have all of your parts powdercoated. You'll get better durability and appearance. The extra cost will be worth it to not have the frustrations of cleaning and painting those items yourself. Remember that if you don't clean those parts super good, the paint isn't gonna last.

The downside to this is the downtime you'll need because you'll have to take all the parts off and wait before you can put them back on.

no turbo on this car.... YET... so I dont need to worry about that.
not so much of a downside, as I dont have any of these parts yet. I'm going to be purchasing them little by little and then hopefully by the end of the summer or close to it I'll be able to paint them and put them on. I'm not in a huge hurry for any of these right now as I haven't been racing or anything like that this year.

This is the best price I've seen it for on the internet AND it includes free shipping. I doubt you'll be able to find it cheaper locally, if you could find G2 at all locally, but good luck in your search.

Can you even see the sway bars on a 3? I can see my rear bar, but only if I'm driving up the driveway or standing on my head.

And powder coating is a good option- especially for the high wear areas like the springs and sway bars.

I would powdercoat the springs and sways for sure. Regular paint will not last long with the flexing.

Edit: Tom beat me to it.

I see a slight problem with powder coating stuff pink though. It's kind of a weird color and I think you might run into problems finding someone who will powder coat something pink. But I've never asked.

Premier Coatings is a good place. They ceramic coated my exhaust header.
