Vert motor going out?

Postby droid » Fri Feb 20, 2009 9:14

I was putting my top down and at the halfway point the motor stopped working. It wouldn't go back down anymore, but i could go forward luckily closing it. Seems like it's just the reverse that went out. Is there a fuse related to troubleshooting this? Anything will help before i tear out the cover and "look" at the motors myself.

may be binding. Mine likes to do that...

Also, it could be the switch. Similar to the wiper switch, the contacts for part of the switch operation can fail. So you might only have forward working in the switch.

You COULD removed the motors and do it all manually.

How can i do it manually? Removing the motors would lessen the weight.^_^

Is it even possible to remove the motor and do something like that.

Is the motors belt driven?

no. the motor is a mechanical linkage. The motors are just bolted down. Its plenty possible. The top is just a heavy ass son of a bitch.
