Blast Cabinet Use Request

Postby RX-7 Chris » Wed Dec 11, 2013 9:14

Does anyone in the springs have a blast cabinet I could use? It can be a small one.

I just picked up this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121231479357

It's for the Galaxie. The pulley may not look like much but it is a steal for $35. It is a very rare part that usually sells for close to $200. I've been looking for one at a decent price for 10 years.

I'm willing to go to denver if it comes down to that.

Is there going to be anything left after blasting? lol. I have a cabinet that you are welcome to use.. but my shop is in Loveland. For the cost of driving up... you could probably pay a machine shop to blast them. They would probably charge you $20.

I have a blast cabinet from HF, all it needs is the glass to be put in the top still. I don't have that done because I made it that far into assembly before realizing my air compressor isn't big enough to do the job, at least not do it well. I have the cabinet and media. If you have a huge air compressor we're set. lol

I'm still out of town though until tomorrow night.

I don't have a compressor of significant size either. I think it is ~5 cfm at 90 psi. I can't see the picture, but it may be enough to do the trick. My tumbler is likely too small as well.

I've got a 2HP 26gal 150psi max compressor you're welcome to borrow. I don't have a way to get it to you but if you can come get it you can use it. 6.4scfm @ 90 psi.

erod, If I can't find someone who has the entire setup, I may come to you.

Dwduc, I don't mind doing it outside but I don't think soda will take off that kind of rust.

Yeah that's way too small lol. The big stand up one I have in the garage (that belongs to Tee lol) isn't even big enough. The next deployment I plan on buying a huge one, then finishing assembly of the cabinet.

hey speedjunkie
I was watching this video last weekend, it made me want to get one of those harborfreight blasters... it seems like a good upgrade, don't know how much it costs though.

I would sell you my HF blast cabinet... It's not the floor model but the slightly smaller one. I want the big floor model now.. easier to blast manifolds in.
