Transmission noise diagnosis help...

Postby RedRoadster » Tue Jun 02, 2009 9:14

I've got a rhythmic scraping noise which, to me sounds like is coming from the tranny, somewhere fore of the shifter.

Symptoms:

- Occurs only during acceleration, severity seems to depend on how hard.

- Matches to engineImage speed, not wheel speed.

- Occurs in all gears, including reverse, with the exception of fourth.

- And one last tidbit, I can feel, but not hear the scraping when the gearshift is in neutral but i move it over to one side or the other, but not in gear.

Clutch? Tranny mounts? The thing that's throwing me for a loop is that 4th gear isn't making any noise.
