The car is just fine for now and only has about 62k on it.

it does have a TPS but why does it also look like it has 2 cables to the TB?

Hard to tell from the pic. Just check it to see if you have metal to metal contact from the TB to ground anywhere. Cables to the TB don't necessarily have to touch ground.

I'm sure it would probably help, the intake on this thing is plastic, I guess to go with the rest of the car.

Right... So no ground through the intake... Probably nothing through the linkage, as it may go from the TB, through a firewall to the rubber accelerator pedal.
