i have an 88 626. four banger turbo, and i just got it running a couple weeks ago but there a few issues and was hoping you guys could help some..

first off when the car is first started it runs ok and idles but when you start giving it gas and let go it wont idle and just die.

the other thing is it has a big lack of power.. ill take off and i can floor it doesnt really take off i eventually get up to speed and shift through gears but i just dunno anymore.. so what would but some common things?? the car did sit for a year but im running out of ideas..

thats nice you got it running. you should try draining the old gas since it has been sitting for quite sometime. im thinking its a fuel issue of some sort.

Is it in gear when you're trying to give it gas? If so your clutch may be bad. It may not be transferring power to the flywheel which keeps it at an idle. It makes sense too that you don't get power when you're driving. If the clutch is bad it won't transfer power well at all. I'd get that looked at too.

Fuel filter, fuel pump. Try the filter first, could just be clogged, hopefully not to the point where it burned out the pump.

There is honestly a good couple hundred things it could be...

Boost leak, bad MAF, clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, bad spark plug wires, fouled spark plugs, bad ignition coil(s), burned up clutch, etc etc

before you go diggin everywhere. pull the codes. there is a green connector by the driver side tower strut. you need to ground it, then turn the key to the on position. it will flash the engine codes at you

biggest running issues other than sensors, will be your charge pipes leaking, and probably needing a tune up of some sort. the soft pipes like to crumble, as well as the throttle body boot. if you have any more issues, feel free to pm me. i know the f2t inside and out

my dad had one of these they are a pain to work on.. i hope its something super simple

haha. personally i think theyre very easy to work on and easy to diagnose. that and it helps there are some in the yards still. but then again i might be bias, ive been with this platform for over 5 years now....

You really should do a boost leak test on it.
