trip to the dealer!!! Usually when turbo seals go bad its out the exhaust that you get smoke, not coming from under the hood! Whatever that is it can't be good at all.

it could be something leaking like a coolant line.

Yeah, that's not the smoking turbo issue. At least when my turbo was smoking, it came out of the tailpipes and irritated the snot out of the people behind me.

Sounds like coolant, but usually coolant is little more obvious, especially under the hood. Dealer is the best bet, and fast for that kind of issue.

Naw... I have a a heater core go out on my truck and then the windshield would have condensation on it... 1300 fix..not fun..it doesnt smell like coolant...more just like campfire smoke but not as woody...lol

The problem i run into is its only happens so often....so if i took it in and they couldnt get it to smoke then its tuff....

Just got an oil change and they said everything looked good...obviiously they dont do alot of test...

i also got my exhaust fixed....had a bolt missing and had paper gaskets in...now with it fixed do you think it could be the gaskets burning up???

thanks for the help

If it only happens after a while it must obviously have to be pretty hot...like a fluid dripping onto a shield/brace that gets hot.

It could be your new gaskets but those are designed to take the heat...and they shouldn't smoke that much. If they do smoke it should only be 2-3 times before they are heat-cycled and will stop. It's just like heat wrap...I put it on and my car was smoking a shit ton. But it happened pretty quickly and it stopped smoking after a few cycles.

If it were a Honda, I'd say it's a leak of VTEC fluid. :)

So update....today i drove from monument to the springs....sat idoll in the parking lot on the phone for about 10 min.....started smoking again smelled like plastic,/rubbery smell....so i left car on and popped hood...alot of smoke was comeing from back of engine ....i looked at the back of the car....alot of smoke was coming out the exhaust pipe.....

So my thinking is the gaskets are gone between the downpipe and Turboxs racepipe...the turbo smoke is coming back up the engine and out the pipe....

Does this sound like it can happen?

Josh (speedracer) told me last may that the guy before me that had it had a downpipe on the car and it smoked like shit......said he had a seals checked and needed new turbo but never got it replaced and just traded the car in.....I went in 2 months later (july) to ask Sil-tehar to check it and they said they could see know visual evidence that it was smoking....so i have done nothiing since......Since the racepipe it has been smoking off and on.....

make any sence?

If it is indeed the turbo...what dealer should i take it too?....i have an extended warranty so it is covered.....

I have a SRI, boost tubes, BOV, and racepipe on....should i part back to stock? if not what should i take off?

Is there a dealer who can install a turbo with aftermarket parts on?

How long usually does it take in the dealer to have a turbo ordered and replaced? days, weeks?

From what I know about VW's, which idk if it transfers over to Mazda, when a turbo is bad the smoke will be blue and will come from the exhaust. Could be either that or a bad turbo seal or bad valve seals. Again, this is what I know from the VW community but hopefully it might be helpful! Good luck though!

Thats kinda weird you say that cuz i had a honda, and it did the same thing.. kinda funny, but it eventually stopped. it only did it to me a few times though.

white smoke is coolant, blueish smoke is oil, greyish\black is usually rich fuel condition.....

if your gonna take it to the dealer, i recommend returning everything to stock if you want your warranty to cover it, i wouldnt take a chance on it
