Tranny Fluid Changed

Got that task done today. Was a little easier than I thought, but a hell of a lot messier. Still, there are now ALMOST 3 quarts of Redline MT-90 goodness in the MTX, and she shifts SMOOTH. Noticeable difference.

That said, the old fluid actually looked pretty good. I think it might have been changed somewhere along the way.

I put MT-90 in mine too. I love it!

Yep, definitely shifts smoother now. But that could just be because the old fluid was...well...old.

How did you approach your change? I think I recall reading two different methods. One using a funnel with a long hose, and another.

he isn't really on here anymore.

I use a pump to fill the tranny.

How do you use a pump?

Hose into new tranny bottle, ball pump, and hose to fill hole?

I use one of these from the parts store:

On the 8, I just popped the shifter off the top and dumped in the fluid. Still have 3 quarts or so sitting in the garage...

You can find it locally. And you can have my 3 QTS if you want it. I picked mine up at http://www.3rauto.com/

on a fwd you can't add the fluid through the shifter.

I'm a slacker...still need to do this.

edit:
Not a very difficult task. It would have been a little more awkward with te car only on jackstands, but not difficult still. I changed mine at 75k. The 2-3 shifts now have no clunk to them. I also used the Redline MT90. Thanks to Huzer, I only needed to buy 1 qt. Need to get one of my own pumps though. Seems like a good thing to do more often (every 30 k perhaps).
