Potentialy fun and stupid idea...

Postby G-Man » Sun Dec 07, 2014 9:14

My 2002 Protege5 wagon, five-speed, is in really nice shape - a terrific basic car.

Years ago, I had a 1990 626 GT with the great F2T 12V 2.2 liter turbo.

Anyone know about swapping in the F2T motor and tranny into the Protege? Ideally, swap the whole thing over - engine, tranny, possibly even front suspension.

2.2 liter 12v intercooled turbo vs 2.5 liter normally aspirated?
I'd expect the F2T to offer lots more performance, especially at our altitude.

Damn. You'd need 395/20R17 tires and arms like Popeye!

Ah, probably the wisest thing to do is leave the Protege5 alone and buy a foolish second car.

I was running 225/45-18 with my speed. Full motor mounts made tq steer non-existant. Lol.

My dream is a disi swap miata.

Turbo 6 cylinders is where its at.. the klze starts about 50hp greater than an FT2.. and also accepts bost well. If my MSP breaks again... it will likely get a turbo KLZE swap.
