Hawk Hps or EBC yellow pads

Hello everyone. I'm stepping my game up with the next set of brakes I'm putting in the car. I'm drifting away from the lifetime warranty pads at the local auto parts stores. I own a 93 rx7 w 18 inch tsw wheels. It was a big step up from factory aluminum 16s which stopped well even w the cheapy pads. I'm just seeing what everyone has to say about the two before I make a purchase.

I've run HPS is both my rx-7s and been very happy with them.

I have HP+ for my Mustang but only use them for track days. Those SOBs are noisy as hell on the street. They stop my tank of a car in no time though. HUGE difference over the stock pads, even with the Brembo package.

HPS might be quieter as it's more of an in-between pad.

The hps have little to no noise and fairly low on brake dust.

I should get some HPS to keep on all the time. I'm sure they'd be more effective than the stock ones and if they don't squeal like it's metal on metal anytime you're not braking with force (like the HP+ do), then that would be perfect.

Thanks for the link chris. I've came across this site when I started my research but its in comparison to the ebc green.

I had EBC Greens on before and I swapped to EBC Yellows. Great pads, little dust, no noise. I've heard different about Hawk though, I've heard a lot of people don't like them due to the noise and dust mostly I think. Andy has them on his FD and he's swapping them out right now.

I just put EBC greens on the rear of my car and it made a nice difference, waaay less brake dust as well.

I've run the HPS on both my MS3 and WRX. They're OK, but I plan to try the EBCs next. On the MS3 I felt they were a downgrade over stock, maybe a mild to moderate upgrade on the WRX. Both cars were/are daily drivers. The HPS has limited initial bite, then grabs progressively harder as they warm up. I find myself hitting the brakes under heavy braking, then letting up as the pads grab. I liked the high initial bite of the stock MS3 pads better, but not well enough to pay almost 3x as much for them. Once they're warm, they're great and stop well. They'd rock for autocross.

I've been running Carbotech on my cars since 2005. They have a great line of pads from mild to wild. All have excellent rotor wear, modulation, and initial bite, plus the dust is safe for all wheel finishes.

I didn't like the HPS brake pads. I opted for EBC bluestuff front brake pads. I would definitely go with the EBC Yellowstuff as they are cheaper and easier to find. I still don't have my rear EBC bluestuffs.

Yellow gets my vote.

I like EBC YellowStuff on my SAAB NG900t and NA MX-5. Good initial bite, no appreciable fade on street driving. I wouldn't say they are low-dust, but I don't care because they're good at, you know, braking. Haven't tried Hawk products.

I switched to ebc yellows after hearing good things from speedjunkie and I have to say that they are a mean little brake pad. I have to say that there is no fade at all when running hard on them once you have them broken in.
