Well, I called up tirerack today to try and order the Kosei K-1 TS in 18" and was denied. Apparently they have been discontinued and are sold out at that size.

I can however, go to a 17" and still get the wheels with a grey finish like I want, but then it is only a 7" diameter wheel, but at 13.7lbs.

The rest of the light weight wheels, to my knowledge, are just too damned expensive, or don't come in a gunmetal/grey finish.

My other option is to forget about the whole lightweight wheel thing and just get some MB Boost wheels in OEM size, since they are one of the few wheels I have found that I like.

Does anyone know of other lightweight wheels options that are less than $250 a wheel? Is it worth the drop in weight to go down to a 17" wheel with a thinner tire?

Thanks for the replies.

I am on a slightly thinner tire but on much lighter wheels than my stock. Like 5 lbs per wheel. I felt an immediate difference in steering once I got them on my car. I can't say for certain but there might be the tiniest dip in gas mileage on a smaller wheel though.

Scratch that, my winter tires on my stock wheels and my summer tires on my after market are both 245/18's. The drop in weight was nice though.

Was the steering difference a good thing or a bad thing?

Nice response time.......Nevermind

It's tough to say. With a 7" wide wheel, you won't be able to run a wide tire effectively so you'll obviously have less rubber on the road for accelerating, braking and turning. How is your traction now?

My winter set up, while I think it's heavier overall, has less rotational inertia because it's a smaller wheel/tire combo. I noticed a big difference switching back to my summer wheels/tires last week. My car is noticeably slower. But my car has alot less power to work with than anyone else's on this board so I feel it more.

Enkei RPF1s are a light wheel. I'm pretty sure those go north of $250 each though.

I had these in 17" (17lbs.) on my Civic. Very nice, lightweight wheel. http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/merchant...1-SF187542514-G

Not by much.

www.edgeracing.com has the RPF1 wheels with tires in 18" for $1559 + about $100 shipping.

Check it out:

17 lbs for an 18x7.5 wheel is pretty good.

I got my Enkei RSV wheels from here and didn't have any problems.

Brandon, where else are you looking for wheels?

I think this is a question for me, but last I checked my name isn't Brandon. :46c83cc5:

I'm not to happy about the weight of the MB Boost wheels, so I've looked a little more and I think I may have found a compromise.

I've been looking at the Rota wheels, but I can't decide which wheel I like and what finish I like. Does anyone have experience with the Rota wheels?

I can still get less than 20lbs per wheel and get an 18x8 and maybe get some 235s on there with a fender roll if necessary.

Brandon..... Patrick...... whatever. You both drive 4 door, turbo AWD cars....

Definitely take your time deciding on wheels. Unless you like throwing money away, buying different sets of wheels frequently can get expensive. And a nice set of wheels does alot for your overall appreciation of your car. Choose wisely!
