Cheap tires.

Postby Operator » Wed May 12, 2010 9:14

Ok, so I'm trying to pinch a penny and I've looked at some really cheap tires, and from the reviews, the main complaint is they are a bit noisy and have a hum. The tires I preordered are at discountire awaiting pick-up, but I may return them and get the cheapies. The difference is $538 installed to $382.2 installed. I don't AutoX and only rarely do I go over 100mph.

What I already ordered: http://www.onlinetires.com/products/vehicle/tires/riken/245%252F40-18+riken+riken+raptor+z+++93w.html And I know they hold up to high speeds. And had a set on my old MZ3.

What I'm curious about: http://www.onlinetires.com/products/vehicle/tires/sunny/245%252F40-18+sunny+sn3800+97w.html

Thoughts....

I've used the Raptors (on my daughter's old Beretta) and they were pretty good...don't know about "Sunny" brand, but tires aren't something to cheap out on.

Well I know know the Raptors are legit. They are made by Michelin and I had them on my MZ3 until I traded it and just moved them over to my A4 and they still performed great. My thoughts were more so on the Sunny's. I know tires aren't something you go cheap on, but I've got to get the winters off soon.

What the heck are you driving these days man :o Good to see you around still!

I have Kumho Ecsta AST's on mine. My friend had them on his STI. I think I paid $70 a piece for them and they have all the load, speed, and tread ratings that the speed6 can handle (except 130mph H rating). On the onlinetires.com website they start at $60 and the WRX is listed as a sample vehicle. Might be another option for you to check out...

I'm in the market for 245/40/18's or 245/35/18's. The Kuhmo's jump in price at that point.

I'm probably going to order from directbuytire.com. All four tires for $354 shipped.

It's funny all 4 tires for the FD cost me just a little more than ONE tire for my POS daily driver truck...
