Has anyone installed Axis wheels on their ride? I was wondering if there were any known issues. I came across some Axis Shines and they are pretty close to the Racing Hart CX's that I can't find anymore. They're about 20lbs per wheel but the bolt pattern and off set are perfect. I was wondering if they were pretty tough but still agile or there were any noticable differences in handling. 20lbs seems kind of heavy but I don't even know how much the stock 8 wheels weigh. Any input would be greatly appreciate.

20 lbs is pretty portly. If you can get a wheel that adheres to the 1 pound per 1 inch rule, then you're doing pretty good. My 17" wheels weigh 17.5 lbs. When you start getting into the "less than 1 pound per inch" area, the wheels start getting expensive.
If the stock RX-8 wheels weigh that much, then go for it. Stock wheels typically weigh alot- it's cheaper to make a wheel that isn't optimized and sometimes heavy wheels take abuse better then light wheels.

Thanks Tom. Anyone know how much a stock RX-8 rim weighs?

Nice! Thanks Chris.
So theoretically I probably shouldn't feel any difference in steering. The wheels I am looking at are 19's so there may be a difference in the ride. Here's what an 8 looks like with these installed. Not quite as cool as the Racing Hart CX seen on the Mazda Super Car but pretty cool none the less. Pic from RX8club member llzjayarzll. What do you guys think?

I like those! Is the rear wheel gonna have a deep lip also? What are you gonna do with your Stock RX8 Wheels?

The set I found aren't staggered but I don't mind that look personally. As for the wheels I am keeping them for my winter tires she has mounted right now, sorry. I do have a set of seriously new 18" performance tires to get rid of though, since I am stepping up to 19's. I guess I should put that up in the sale section though huh?

What kind and size (width/series) are the 18" tires you might be selling?

I'm guessing that they're probably 225/45.

They're in storage so I will have to stop over to check but yeah, I am thinking 225/45 Z's. If you are really interested I will go check it out and post up details. You'll have to give me til tonight though.

I'm not a huge fan of the deep dish look, overall. I set of the front wheels, unstaggered, all the way around wouldn't be bad. I definitely prefer the hard to find wheels in your other post, though.

Which ones do you prefer... the Racing Hart CX's? Or the Axis Shine's in the pic above? Personally I really prefer the CX's but the only ones I can find are soooooo super expensive, like $2500 where I can pic up these Shine's here locally for $750. There is a listing on eBay for CX's and they're looking for $1400 but the seller seems sketchy. The Shine's are here local at a shop and at least I can see what I am getting plus saving some loot.
I dunno, I haven't truly decided yet. That's why I was wondering about peoples experience with Axis wheels if they had any. I keep hoping some CX's magically land in my lap but I don't want to miss out on a deal for the Shine's. Decisions decisions.
