Instead of ordering a new sharkfin antenna I'm thinking of getting my old one painted Black Mica to match my new car. Does anyone know of somewhere good that can do this for me?.....also, has anyone seen the crazy prices that street unit has for their blacked out speed 3 badges...basically 4x the price as a chrome emblem!

I dont know about the painting, but i just wanted to say your car would look sick with blacked out emblems! But yeah their prices for them are a bit ridiculous.

Why not paint it yourself? Worse come to shove if it turns out bad after a few tries then have someone do it?

I would much rather do it myself....i think i might have a hard time matching the paint. As far as the emblems go....ill probably do them myself rather than spending close to $200 on badges and emblems online.

If you have some pics, i know a guy that is really good at painting. He owns a shop up in Broomfield. I can see what he would charge. If it is worth it, compared to doing it yourself, i know you wouldn't be disappointed.

I had no problems putting my emblems in the oven at 200 degrees for 3-5 minutes. Thing is make sure you scuff/sand the emblems prior to painting so the paint adheres to the Emblem.

Bumping this up. I was following a Lincoln MKZ today and that got my wondering if the sharkfin on that car is compatible with the Mazda6 (they're all in the same family). Not that I have much use for one anymore, but I thought the lower profile sharkfin, I always thought the VG was too bulky, looked much better. Might be worth checking out if you're in the market for one.

You could get one for the 8 Tim. The new '09's have a babby one.
