Custom Plates

Any idea about the cost of custom lisence plates? price? rules? any thing else i should know? i go in tomorrow 05/06/2009

I want to say its $90 for custom plates, but that is probably not right. You can put anything you want so long as you explain it and its not inappropriate.

I think it is $90 or at least close to it. 7 characters long is the limit. Umm if you're a vegitarian you can't use ILOVTOFU because some people may take it as I LOVTOFU.:lol::eek::o:D;):p

I have customs and it was about $90 extra, and then an annual additional fee of $50 on top of the renewal.

Mine were (Douglas County):

Regular (green and white): issued to passenger vehicles, motor homes, motorcycles, trailers, and all types of trucks. Application fee is $30.00; additional annual fee is $25.00

It's now:

Here's the info from the DC site:

Personalized Plates

Application:
  • Submit the application to the Colorado Department of Revenue, who will approve or deny your request. If your request is approved you will receive a bill for the application fee. When you pay the application fee, the plate will be manufactured and sent to the Douglas County Motor Vehicle office in Castle Rock. You will be notified when your plate is received.
Descriptions:
  • Colorado Mountain Majesty: issued to passenger and light trucks (less than 16,000 pounds). Application fee is $60.00; additional annual fee is $50.00
  • Regular (green and white): issued to passenger vehicles, motor homes, motorcycles, trailers, and all types of trucks. Application fee is $35.00; additional annual fee is $25.00
  • Street Rod: issued to vehicles manufactured in 1948 or prior with a body design that has been modified for safe road use. Application fee is $35.00; additional annual fee is $25.00
  • Call Letter (amateur or commercial): issued to passenger vehicles and light trucks less than 10,000 pounds). Submit a photocopy of your license issued by the FCC. Application fee is $5.00; additional annual fee is $5.00
Limitations:
  • English alphabet only (upper case)
  • English numbers
  • Blank spaces, periods, and dashes are allowed
  • Six character for motorcycle plates (spaces, periods and dashes count for a character)
  • Seven characters for all other types (spaces, periods and dashes count for a character)
  • Minimum of five characters for a plate with numbers only
  • Minimum of two characters for any combination of letters and numbers
  • No refunds will be issued if you decide not to use the plate
  • The county will hold the plate for 12 months. If the plate is not registered to a vehicle, then it will be available for reissue.
  • See the application for combinations not allowed

so am i understanding this right....Apply to the state with what i want it to say, they say "yes" and bill me $35 (green and white) and then i pay another $25 dollars for annual fees. All together for personilzed plate: $60.

let me know if im being dumb.

heres what i want it to say:

1. deepMS3
2. deepSpd
