New Side Skirts! Help Me Out!

Postby GR-8 » Thu Sep 17, 2009 9:14

Hey Zoom-Zoom Peeps,

So as many (some) of you know my baby got it. Well the side skirt got cracked and while I was driving down Hampden the crack decided to get bigger and well it fell and was scrapping the ground. All that was holding on to the front half was the bottom fiber glass of the sideskirt that the crack didn't go through.

So when I had a chance to pull over I just ripped it off all the way.

This is how it looked before I ripped it off.

This is after.

So What I need is help on which Side Skirt would look best with an Ings Front Bumper and Vielside Rear Bumper. Mebe something that screams less than the Vielside Side Skirt but is aggressive.

I ask for help because I havn't really looked at kits for the 8 after I got mine 4 yrs. ago.

Pictures of what it used to looke like.

The best picture I could find of the rear and side together in my photo bucket.

Note to all. Hitting 'BackSpace' to delete something while in a browser can make you lose your long post. errrrr. Who ever thought it'd be a good idea to make 'backspace' go to the previous page?

Anywho, I visited Japanparts.com (one of my fav. sites) and found these that I like and might work well with the combo I have going on. Now let me start my list and hard work all over.

Please reply with any helpful comments, suggetions, ect.

Knight Sports

R Magic (can't stand the rest of that kit but the side skirts are ok. Not my top choice)

If your into the MAZSPEED look for a good price, take a look at
http://www.duraflexbodykits.com/0408-mazda-rx8-duraflex-speed-sideskirts-p-20728.html

Don't know what type of material your looking for but these are obviously made of Duraflex. If not, I like the Kenstyle.

So far my top 3 in no particular order are the Auto Bahn, Knight Sports, and MS. Auto Bahn and MS seem to be almost identical except for the vent in the rear of the Auto Bahn and the bottom lip is not there..

auto bahn gets my vote, because the rear of the side skirt doesn't flare up at the end. Your rear bumper does not match the flare that the others are showing. You want it to flow as best you can, imo.

If that makes sense.

I vote Mazdaspeed because I have them, LOL. They fit like OEM and you can still find some that are pre-painted which is why they are expensive, but so worth it.

Well I saw side skirts on an 09 R3 and I want those. SOoo nice. But they only come painted with the 09 colors (no primer) and are like a lot.

So I have to order the side skirts like this week for sure and I've decided on the "MazdaSpeed" from here. http://www.duraflexbodykits.com/0408...s-p-20728.html It's not official Mazdaspeed but oh well. The price is what I like about it.

My car may have a big surprise if the price is I get quoted is good. And sadly it's not a TK. :(
