The idea is worth it....the price maybe not.... I read on a forum that some guy did the same thing...but cut the factory box into a SRI box....

The price doesn't worry me too much. In comparison, the SRI and TIP were overpriced too...what can you do- right?
I have wondered about this (the Cobb-specific one), as I do read KR on hot days. My only hesitation would be the fitment. Things are already crammed with the Synapse being there. But I'm thinking it would fit...

I don't think it's worth it really. I already see intake air temps less than 10 degrees above ambient when driving down the road. Sure they go up when you are stopped, but I don't think the air box is going to make that big of a difference when stopped either. But who knows, maybe it will.
Side note: Is that an aftermarket recirc hose you've got on there tut? If not, how in the heck did you get the stock hose to bend that much, heh.

I agree. Not sure if its worth it, but am curious.
Indeed it is. Got it at Checker for ~15 bucks. I actually cut too much off one of the ends, so one of these days I'll replace it again.

Lol, I was actually waiting for you to get your Synapse... I wanted to see how you tackled it:D

why not just make your own out of aluminum and know it will fit?

I can't see it making any sort of measurable difference on a dyno, power wise anyway. May help with IAT though, even if slightly

Was it already bent like that when you bought it? What size hose is it? I think I will do the same when I do get my Synapse. They're backordered though so could be a while.

Friend of mine has one on his STi and loves it. He has the Cobb one, but there's plenty of room for it to fit in his car, so it isn't as big a deal.

I agree, why not make your own. granted I would look at something other than aluminum as its heat transfer properties are pretty high.

Like cardboard and duct tape....

That's the only way to roll....

Yup:) I just trimmed each end to fit. Hmmm, not sure on the exact size. It's a standard sized radiator hose though. I just stood in the back stock room/area pondering what would work. I think they only had 2-3 different ID-sized hoses to choose from and the one I got fit on the Synapse like a glove.... a bit tighter on the TIP though.
Not sure about making my own. The last thing I "fabricated" was years ago... was made out of an apple... and didn't work that well. Did the trick though, lol.

All that matters is that the apple worked....that should give you enough confidence to build a SRI Box....
