Headlight down!

I'm coming up on five years of owning my MS3 and one of the factory low beams finally gave out. Props to Mazda for having a bulb last almost five years!

I'm not looking to go HID so I'm looking at a set of Sylvania SilverStar low beams. I've read a lot of people say they burn out very quickly. There are SilverStar Ultra's too that people say have an even quicker burn out rate. Anyone have any experience with them? I'm going to see what the stealership wants to replace both with OEM since they lasted forever but I have a feeling they will want as much money for one bulb as a new set of SilverStars. Thoughts?

I'm not sure you can put halogens in at all, due to different housings, different wiring, etc. Converting TO HIDs from halogens is easy, given the right kit, but I am not sure it can be done the other way around.

Either way, I don't think you'll be satisfied by the light output after having HIDs for so long. I'd recommend staying OE on this one, despite the cost.

They're not expensive at all. http://ddmtuning.com/
I have mine for 5 years in the cx7 (4 yrs in the ms3) and still working fine (HID conversion kits).
If yours is factory HID then your bulb type is D2S - $15/pair. Just pick your color temperature. I recommend 5000k.

Sorry I should have clarified. I'm not running HID now. My speed is a sport so no HID from the factory. Ill look at those DDM but sadly I need a replacement now. I refuse to drive around with a low beam out. It screams pull me over.

Thanks for the replies!

Then I would just go to AutoZone and pick up a cheapest halogen you can find for now, until your DDM kit comes in.

cheapest halogen from Autozone, until a DDM kit comes in. The factory projectors are decent enough with a HID kit, and they will last for quite awhile.

Ive been running the DDM kit for two years on my mz3, and ran them on two of my previous cars. With that warranty its a steal.

x a gajillion. I ran the 6500k DDM kit, loved it. The factory projectors are well set up for the conversion, never had and problems and it's literally a night and day difference.
