Well I ordered a pair of Kinetik batteries for my ride last night. I know at least a few people in this club are going to have high powered stereos so I wanted to post my results and let you know how they perfom. Some stereo shops are carrying the Kinetik power cells, but I'll drop a little info for those who are unfamiliar. Most are smaller and weigh less than an Red Top Optima, and come in several power ratings ranging from 850 amps to 1600 amp 16Volt. In fact, the shipping weight of both batteries is 66 pounds, one optima red top weighs 43 pounds(group 34). So I'm shedding 21 pounds and adding alomost 1000 Amps of power to my charging system. I will be installing the HC 1400 which is 1500 Amps as my main battery and an HC 800 for the secondary battery, which is 950 Amps. I am replacing an old set of optima red tops which have served me well. They were in storage for 18 months with no charge and have lasted since April. They have no reserve time left and when it gets cold or I don't drive the car for a couple of days, on the charger they have to go. I will be going from 1700 total CCA to 2450 CCA with longer reserve time and lower internal resistance. They are also supposed to release voltage nearly as fast as a capacitor. that will be great as I have a 1 Farad cap and 720 watts of total power in the sound system. I get these wholesale if anyone is interested.

Just curious,, but how much are they running, and what is the rating for just one of them? Is it 1225 CCA if Im reading that right? Im in need of a new battery soon,, my stock one is just about to give out on me,, Ive abused it way to much with my current draw from my Amps... and I have a feeling it wont last through winter...

HC 800 is 950 CCA, HC 1400 is 1500CCA. They go up to 2250 cca models and the small one is 850 Amps.
Kinetic batteries Here is the website.
Sonic Electronix Here is a wholesale audio website that sells them cheap.
I have an account with them for my install business, but I think you can order from them without a tax number.
If you're only running one battery I'd recomment the HC 1400 or larger. But a high output alternator is what you should get, batteries still need to be charged, and a lot of current draw from the sound system will still suck a bigger battery dry.

Got my batteries tonight when I came home from work. Damn their tiny! Hard to beleive 2450 amps come in such a small package. I probably won't be able to install them until Friday. And the car won't start because my current batteries are toast. So I'm stuck with the company truck or my passport until then. I will post a few pics when I put them in. I have to get some posts for the small battery anyway, it came with bolts instead of top posts.

Installed the Kinetic Power Cells on sunday. WOW, the car instantly fires. It's never done that. I guess the MSD like all that juice off the key. The sound system never had any problems because of the 200 amp alternator, but I have noticed absolutely NO voltage fluctuations now. So they were worth the money and the wait.

Im really thinking about doing a two battery set up now.. My amp has been drawing to much power lately and really starting to cut out at high volumes when it used to never do that.. I had my stock batter checked and alt checked and they said that everything was running fine.. but I feel that my charging system isnt holding up like it used to.. I really cant afford a HO alt right now but Im just not sure how much a second batter will help if I dont have the charging system to charge it.

What are the components of your system? what kind and size of wiring are you running? what kind of vehicle?
