When I bought mine, I actually bought mine locally at Best Buy over ordering from the internet. I found that prices were the same no matter what and taxes (locally) and shipping (internet) were basically a wash so the "gotta have it now" factor of buying it locally won out.

I have a cheep one from best buy. And so far it was helped out a lot. You get what you pay for, i know, but having any is better than none at all.

My detector has actually made me more aware of my speed.

I didn't want to get one to start with but now that i have one i don't find myself speeding any more than i did before. I don't find myself watching my speed any more than before. All that it has done, is start beeping at me when i am not paying attention to the road far ahead and let me know that there are cops around. It has saved me three times now. I will never have a car without a RD again.

i cant see going with any other radar than th Valentine. My frined has the 8500, i picked up a ka rader at least a quarter mile ahead of him the other night, cant say enough about Valentine, best $400 Ive spent on my car...(my tickets would by far have surpassed $400 by now). Granted, his Escort, is nice, but he cant tell where radars are coming from, Valentine shows you which direction the radar is coming from, which in my opinion is priceless...
