I wanted to put my Pioneer deck into my Mazda but it was WAY too much work, the stock deck works just fine with the sub/amp I have but it doesn't have the 6 disc like the car is supposed to, grr.

Only problem I am facing now is not being able to use my ipod in my car without having to buy the ridiculous lighter plug in, radio tuner. My Pioneer deck has the ipod hook up that sets up in the glove compartment, loved it in my GTI. Missing it now :( any suggestions?

you attached a sub to your stock system? nice...i did the same thing.
You can try this for your ipod. http://www.therpmstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=142&osCsid=n47p310v472k4jq1rhuo6qjbq2
They have a similar one for the 6, I don't ipod so haven't felt the need to get one.

and i agree it is $$$ to add an aftermarket deck to our cars. Mazda did not make that easy.

thatc's why i started this thread lol

Unfortunately your car is an 09 and there hasn't been much of an aftermarket for it yet. I couldn't find anything worth the money the only thing i would suggest is a lot of car audio places can fabricate a dash for your car and you can throw your old deck and ipod controller in there or for about $250 you can buy an alpine which come with the interface cord and has the best interface on the market IMO

on a side note, you still retain the time and outside temp with the metra kit right? I could only see 1 in your pic.

thought so, just double checking... :)

the 9887 actually has the eq built in...a lot of the newer ones require the imprint module.....

Good research.... but I have purchased the imprint kit so if you need it for tuning i got it and BTW all it does is unlock the Bass and treble feature. i hate the imprint because it virtually gets rid of all your bass. Also you can still use the graphic equalizer to adjust levels and it is alot more effective than bass and treble IMO. I have the imprint off on my HU and took the hour to adjust everything myself and i could not be happier. just my .02
