Useless Cup Holders!

Well, I sucked it up and ordered some paint today. That'll give me something to do to the interior, clean up those scratched up trim pieces! I'm curious how the Ti Gray is going to look...

Nothing yet. I was attempting to buy a spare used center console, but haven't spent the money for it. When I take it out to paint the trim pieces, I'll investigate some more and maybe start cutting, It would be a lot easier if the cupholder area wasn't all curved. Oh well, I'm sure I'll make it through it ok.

It sucks not having internet for 2 weeks. I've missed out on a lot. I have a spare center counsel that you could have had. Sorry. I just got the my comp up and running like 30 minutes ago.

Glad you're back! Bummer, although I got the console for pretty cheap. Hopefully it'll be here soon, I haven't received a tracking number or anything yet. The paint will be here on Monday. Wee!

Started last night. All I managed to do was chop the cupholders out. Tonight I'll do a little more chopping and hopefully fab it together so I can get a better idea of how it's going to come out. I'll snap some in progress pics tonight. So far, so good.

I'm not saying they don't hold things well, it's just the positioning of them. If you want to shift while there's anything in the holders, you've got to hold your arm at an awkward angle to do so because of the height.[/b]

I second that! My drinks get elbowed when I shift so they're better off in the cupholder in the backseat.

I'm the same way...I guess I'd just rather have the larger storage bin (kind of like in the 6) then hold a couple of drinks every once in a while. I don't think my cd changer will be here by the weekend, so I'll wait until next weekend to pull out the console and mock it up. Gotta measure before I go cutting stuff outta there. I think to keep it looking seamless, I might just carpet the interior of the box when I get it done, depends on how it looks.[/b]

That's one thing I miss about my 6 is the storage bin in the dash uuugghh!..so convenient..that was my trash bin

lol yeah the rx-8 cup holders are really pointless but hell my rx-7 dosn't really have cup holders
and the ones i do have are on my glove compartment and well yeah can't use them while driveing
