When my Escort 8500 dies, I will likely pick up a 9500ix.

I miss my escort 8500. :( But I can live without one.

Not a downer, I appreciate the honesty.
I stopped at BB and looked. They had a 9500 for $500, then some Cobras for 170 and 130. The more I read about them, I kind of got the same feeling... unless I spend the money and get a quality one, it'd just be a waste.

So I held off- We'll see if I end up throwing down the dough or not-

Also when it comes time to buy, check online. You can usually find them (along with everything else) way cheaper online, especially cheaper than a place like Best Buy which charges full retail on everything it sells. I don't buy anything at Best Buy anymore except maybe a CD now and then.

Ha ha, true. I'm a total impulse buyer. It's like if I want something, then I WANT it-- NOW:lol:

More good advice. I'll see if I can't scrounge up some expendable cash (if there is such a thing) down the road.

Oh yeah- Coincidentally, I did a short burst yesterday. Immediately after, I was checking my rear view... all paranoid-like:unsure:

I now run the Whistler Pro-78SE. They go for under $200 and mine has saved me well over $2000. WOrks like a CHAMP, especially on Ka. And everyone in town has gone to Ka...only the motorcycle cops use K.

Whatever you do, AVOID COBRA. They SUCK.

And avoid RMR (Rocky Mountain Radar).

I've run the mid tier Whistlers, and been pleased with the performance. Between it's detecting and my eyes viewing the road in front of me, Ive stayed out of trouble.

I'd go Escort, Beltronics, Whistler.

Best Buy also price matches, including online websites/vendors, so it's great to be able to walk in, pick up your merchandise that day (no waiting for shipping) and get it for the same price.

Plus sales tax, which can be significant on big ticket items. I bought my newest big screen television from Amazon. Sales tax would have been $140 from Best Buy. It'd only be about $20 for sales tax on a $300 radar detector though. I was not aware they would price match with online vendors.

I use the Escort 9500ix for my daily commute between Colorado Springs and Denver. It has been pretty reliable.

I recommend:

1. Passport 9500ix
2. Beltronics Redline
3. Beltroncis STi Driver (Seems sacrilegious for a Mazda person to have an STi anything)
4. Valentine 1
5. Passport 8500 X50
6. Beltronics Vector 995
7. Whistler Pro-78SE
8. Beltronics Vactor 955
