I bought Pooh Bear a really nice one last year for Christmas.. It was the Escort, umm. don't remember the actual name on it, but the highest Escort you can get. That thing can pretty much do anything you want it to besides your dirty dishes. haha

Escorts are by far the nicest radar detectors

I bet it would get a cop to give you a ticket, I'd like to see that, lol

I also have the Valentine V1. Used by Team Polizei, if that matters [img]http://coloradomazdaclub.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

I've heard the Valentine V1 compared to the "boy who cried wolf".

I have the Escort Passport 8500 X50. I've been pulled over twice with it- once for my plate cover issue last week (no radar/laser involved) and once when I got nicked by a KS state trooper at night on I-70 just before we passed each other going the opposite direction (he flipped on his radar and tagged me). But I think he got me with POP (or "instant on") and we passed each other before he could get a better lock on me. As soon as the detector went off, I was on the brakes, quickly shedding the extra 14 mph I was carrying. And BTW, I got a warning for that one too.

Read this site front to back before you make your final decision.

I've got my fair share thank you...I don't need anymore....I was onced nailed for doing 90 on I-25 when in reality I was going over 100 (this was pre 6).
I didn't have proof of insurance.. a bit too cocky after driving between CS and Denver too many times...

maybe you should slow your happy a$$ down and you wouldn't have to worry about getting tickets... I have never gotten a ticket, only been pulled over that once, because the stupid sherriff thought I was driving a stolen car.. dumba$$ lol

I have an Escort x50 and it works well, but if you have the money i would defiantly suggest going with a valentine. V1's and escorts are the only ones i trust.

If you have the money, go for the Escort 9500 with GPS to program in known false alarms.

But my 8500 x50, even in Highway mode all the time, will only go off if I'm actually in the parking lot of a store with an automatic door, or there is 1 spot along Wadsworth (by Circuit City) when I'm going south and on Broadway going north toward Highlands Ranch Pkwy. But I've also turned off the X-band since that is a main source of false alarms. The rest of the time, it's quiet unless there's a cop.

I did get one hit from laser once that I think was a false alarm. I was out in eastern KS, passing a semi on I-70. I didn't see any cops ANYWHERE and cops have to be stationary to shoot laser.

Where I used to work in Wichita was right next to an Air Force base. The laser landing positioning system at the base would trigger the laser detector as well when it was cloudy- that was annoying. You have to go pretty far in Wichita to get behind a hill to hide from that thing.

I've been hit with laser 4 times in Colorado. Most cops are running K and Ka band (the latter being the newest). I haven't seen any POP usage around here though.
