I'm in the process of setting up my new system for my CX-7...and I'm curious about additional upgrades that may be needed....I already plan on an Optima battery...but I'm not sure if I'll need to upgrade my alternator also....

The sub is a 1200w 13" DVC 2ohm....the amp is 1200w at 1ohm...the amp is
1ohm stable...

Thanks for the help...

Brian

What can your alternator produce? Amperage. What kind of amp, 1200w rms or peak?

At the VERY least, you need a capacitor... Ive ran 4000w on one battery and one alternator with no problems, so I wouldnt think you would need a second battery, have you looked into higher rated alternators? Are there even any available?

I haven't found any higher output alternators....but I figured a yellow top and a cap would be good enough...

Eric....Does your Speed have the Bose?? Just curious if it was a pain to get everything hooked up...

I see...I'm just trying to figure out how much of a pain this would be if I take it on myself...

keeping the stock speakers? easy as tapping the low level input on the Bose amp for your sub amp..

Yup..keeping the Bose speakers...just adding a HU...the amp and sub..
I'm actually happy with the sound of the Bose speakers...just not the bass..

You do realize the OHM rating on the crappy Blose speakers is abnormal and will sound worse with anything but the crappy Blose amp. Just sayin'.

The Bose amp will still be used....the PAC Mazato adapter allows you to keep the full functions of the Bose when adding a aftermarket HU...

Just head over to crutchfield.com and search for PAC SWI....there are 3 or 4 adapters for different HU...as far as the MAZATO adapter...it's advertised only for the CX-7 and CX-9...but u never know..

You know the battery is only used to power the system when the engine is off, right? With that said, the factory Panasonic batteries are crap to begin with, so anything decent will be an improvement, especially the Optima.

Ya....I know....but like you said the Mazda batteries are crap....Mine is on the way out now......I'm trying to decide between a Red Top or a Yellow Top...there is about a $100 difference....I've seen a few cars with systems run a Red Top and work fine....Any suggestions??
