THE WAIT HAS ENDED! .... Surprise!!

Postby GR-8 » Mon Dec 21, 2009 9:14

Well folks. I got my car back a couple weeks ago. Remember that Accident I had right? The guy decided to turn into me cause he wanted to turn onto Broadway from 6th.

Well remember how I had mentioned that the day the Insurance Comp came to look at my car the side skirt decided to fall half way off? No well you should. I only asked for help on picking new sideskirts.

Well while waiting for the insrance check to come in I ordered my side skirts. I ordered from duraflexbodykits.com and decided to go with the knock off Mazda Speed Skirts. Well when I got them I was surprised at what kind of a knock off they were. They looked like Mazda Speed Skirts but something was wrong. They had this picture on the site but that's not what I got. http://www.duraflexbodykits.com/0410-mazda-rx8-polyurethane-speed-side-skirts-urethane-pi-2346.html?image=2
Instead I looked at the skirts more and discovered that these are R3 RX-8 Sideskirts. If you look at the 2 pics the difference is that the front of the side skirts on the R3 flares up like the rear and the Mazda Speed only has a flare at the rear.

I didn't mind haveing R3 Style Side Skirts. Heck.... at the BirthdayBash I had decided the R3 sideskirts were nicer than the Mazda Speed ones. And since it had the flare at the front it'd flow nicly with the flare the front bumper has.

Well After the check being lost in the mail and the new one finally coming early NOV. I took the car to the shop. When I went one day to visit my baby it was neked

The second day I went my baby was getting all sanded smooth and in the paint booth.

The next time I went to see my baby it was early in the morning and ready to get sprayed like new. Here it is in Chris' favorite color. Quite nice if I don't say so myself.

Before we move on lets have a riminder of what my car looked like before it got hit.

Oh and I skipped a step. Now you get to see some color. Here are the jambs all sprayed. Can you see the difference? You all kinda sorta helped me pick the color. Remember that Random thread about these 350z people having an argument on what color was better. ;)

Here is the fresh coat of paint later that day. It looks so dark. Shiny plus lights it didn't come out so well in the pictures.

Getting it's first Buff. Make it shine, Make it shine.

Oh and let me mention another difference from before. My sideskirts now sit about 1/4" to 1/2" higher than the Veilside.

The fins on the rear bumper are shorter. I decided to chop them about 1". That way they don't get hit on speed bumps or getting out of driveways.

You're not gonna put any stripes or graphics on that nice paint job are you?

I like it the way it is.

But..... I was thinking of doing something very subtle. Ghosted in. But I'm not so sure now. Just need to wait for the paint to cure all the way then go and put clearbra everywhere.
