2008.5 Mazdaspeed 3 FS

Postby Justin » Tue Oct 04, 2011 9:14

I love this car and it kills me to sell it. That said, I’m doing so to raise funds for an upcoming move and house purchase. I bought this car in 2009 as my daily driver when it had 10,000 miles on it from another adult. It now has 58k and has never been raced, tracked or abused. It has been carefully maintained and gently modded to improve its overall driveability without harming reliability, safety or mileage. All fluids have been synthetic since I’ve owned it. The interior is in excellent shape and the exterior is nearly perfect. The car has been regularly maintained by the dealership and I have all available records. It has always been garaged and gets comments from friends, co-workers and random strangers.

Aftermarket parts:
2 sets of wheels-ALT Racing 18” wheels with summer tires and stock wheels with snow tires
Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake with AEM air splitter
Professionally installed 18% tint
Professionally installed clear bra
CP-e rear motor mount
Hawk HPS brake pads front and rear
CP-e Tow Plate
Replacement front bumper trim to get rid of holes in the bumper from the factory plate mount
DDM Tuning HID kit
StreetUnit aluminum shifter spacers
Rubber trunk liner

I’m asking $18,000 as it sits with both sets of wheels or $17,500 returned to stock. All the stock parts are sitting on a shelf in my garage and will be included in the purchase of the car if you buy it with the aftermarket parts installed. Please feel free to PM me with any questions. More pics are available.

Good luck with your sale. I tried to sell my 2007 with 43,000 miles and no mods on it and the best offer I got private party was $13,000. Trade in I was offered $11,000!
I'd sell mine today if I could get $15k and it only has 44,000 miles.

I agree. I was thinking $12-13k with that amount of miles...

$12-13 is a bit low. Blue book is just below $15k.

pretty sure that one had an accident with front bumper damage (repaired)
I say this because the same guy is selling front-bumper parts from an MS3 (which is the same one pictured in both ads...)

It's crazy how bad the resale is on MS3's. I traded in my old 3 for my MS3 and got 15.5 for my 3 with 23,000 on it (awesome!). Can't believe that even at private party MS3's are going for less than what I got on my trade....

Thanks moose for pointing out my confusing reply!

I aware that my pricing may be a bit high and wanted to build in some room to come down over time if needed. I'm not in a hurry to sell and my car is in better than average shape. They're selling from dealerships in the 19-20k range with similar miles, so I don't think my asking price is out of line. I was recently offered 15k for a straight sale from a dealership, so I'll take that offer if I can't get more on a private party sale. DSM, I'll let you know if I wind up selling the stock wheels and tires. Right now I'm figuring I'll probably have to return it to stock.

Most of the MS3's I've been looking at on Craigslist are in this price range so I think it's priced fair. Most I've found for >$15k have been in accidents or are over 100k miles. But most of the Speed3's I've found are being sold by dealers.

I would disagree. Mazda holds 3rd place in ALG's Residual Value Awards. Right behind Subaru and Honda. I'd say 15.5 is good trade value for a regular 3 IMO.

Not arguing with you. I was saying I personally think the resale on MS3's is low. I got a killer trade for my 3, 15.5 was awesome! I guess the way I put it in my original reply did make it sound like I didn't like the 15.5. I was trying to show how bad the MS3 resale has become by showing that I got such a good trade on a standard 3.
