I'm looking for a set of 16s or 17" non-steel rims for a 2010 Mazda 3, for snow tires. Appearance is not a major issue.

Thanks,
Hank

Thanks, but my first choice would be 16s. I plan to buy
Blizzaks and the 18's rims/tires get pretty pricey and available 18" Blizzaks
are too wide for me.

If appearance isn't an issue you can get black steelies from TireRack.com or DiscountTireDirect.com for pretty cheap. A quick check on TireRack looks like a set of 205/55R16s General Altimax Arctics (a great snow/ice tire) mounted on 16" black steelies would run you about $705 shipped. Not bad considering that includes the wheels and you'd only have the cost of the tires next time, which is $344 + shipping. DiscountTireDirect.com has free shipping but charges more. They don't have the Generals but they do have Hankook iPikes which I've also used before and are a good snow/ice tire for $745 shipped, including new lug nuts and everything because the factory ones won't work with the steelies, or so they say.

Also you could try calling Tire World as they have matched online prices for me before.
