'89 RX-7 TII (Turbo2)

Postby Brigdh » Mon Oct 21, 2013 9:14

Selling my '89 RX-7 TII. 67k mi. Looking for $4000 OBO. Including all of my spare parts in the deal.

I bought this car from the second owner in Indiana and drove it to Colorado. First owner was a lawyer who bought it new, daily drove it, ended up scraping one of the sides, got the car fixed, and sold it to the second owner in the span of a year or two. The second owner and his brother used the car as a summer road trip vehicle until about two years ago when both brothers decided it wasn't a family vehicle anymore and decided to sell. For the most part they kept everything original. Car had around 59k miles on it when I bought it. I took the car and autocrossed it for a good year and a half, modding somethings along the way.

I decided to sell the car because I took a bit of inventory of what I wanted out of it and found I had conflicting ideas. No matter what I do, I think I'll have some regrets, so I'm taking the car out of the equation and starting over with something else.

When I bought the car, it was basically completely stock. Paint is in good condition for the age of the car, but it does have scrapes and dings. The interior is also in good condition and still has the cargo cover (which is usually lost over time). The previous owner replaced the mufflers, broke the OEM chin lip (but kept the pieces), broke the radio (would power on and basically function, but not pick up any stations), and broke the driver side mirror.

I've done the following things to the car (in no particular order) but kept every stock part I removed:
-curt tow hitch designed for the FC (to tow a small tire trailer)
-new head lights
-cleaned the flash to pass lenses
-attached the OEM front plate bracket
-rolled front fenders
-extended front lugs (2.5" vs 2" stock)
-new drivers side mirror
-repainted wiper arms
-new battery in April 2012
-new battery cables
-60k service stuff - new belts, new water hoses, etc
-K&N air filter
-TCS front and rear strut bars (brackets powder coated black)
-AC removed
-Ground Control suspension kit (Koni Yellow shocks, 400/275 springs, coilovers, front camber plates with caster adjustment)
-Racing Beat front and rear sway bars
-Mazdatrix sway bar endlinks
-S4 front LCAs with new balljoints and Mazda Competition bushings
-Prosport boost gauge installed
-cruise control removed
-sub zero start assist removed per TSB
-Momo Prototipo steering wheel with NRG hub and quick disconnect
-radio and sound system removal
-new rear view mirror
-ABS pump bypassed and removed

The car has the following issues:
-hood scoop crack (visable if you look for it, no pieces missing)
-hood is a bit difficult to close (need to press down in the right place. Probably would be fixed if the hood hinges were adjusted slightly)
-Intermittent CEL 20 (Occurs occasionally during cold start, typically goes away. Will trigger limp mode. OMP and ECU have checked out just fine. Twice the CEL wouldn't go away, solved by shutting off car, opening hood, unplugging and reconnecting OMP. I think the wiring harness is just old and has just enough resistance to cause the CEL. I have a used engine harness that may solve the issue)
-Rarely during cold start the tach will not display any RPMs (always goes away within 20 minutes or less. Coils and tach output signal checkout fine, Probably need to take the gauge cluster apart and clean some electrical contacts)
-drivers seat leather shows wear and has a tear
-driver seat belt sometimes doesn't move forward when door is open (has only ever occured during autocross days, the seatbelt mechanism is warrientied for life if it ever starts giving real problems. providing a copy of the warrenty letter)
-"standard" leaking ABS pump leaked brake fluid in engine bay
-Hankook RS3 Tires are basically at the wear bars and need to be replaced
-Steering column surround trim broke off, have two sets of new trim

I am including the following spare parts:

2 sets of steering column trim
shifter bushing/boot set

Would you consider parting with the water pump housings?
