The place I bought isnt in a "bad" neighborhood, but its lower middle-class. Lots of "white trash " type.. Anyway, lately Ive ran into a few of the locals, and some are funny enough that I had to share.
I walk my dog everyday before work. All of these encounters happened at that time. The young kids riding their bikes around (mullet and no shirt, just to paint a picture) on what were clearly school days were my first clue this place wasnt normal. My first real "what the hell" moment happened a few weeks ago. As I was taking a shortcut through a parking lot, I walked past what I can only assume was a dead crackhead. I couldve ran to see if he was ok, or called the police.. but pulling out my phone and taking a picture before walking off seemed to be the right move at the time. That picture is below:

Next occurrence happened just a few blocks from that location. Again walking my dog, I hear a man yell to me from behind. "hey.. HEY!" I turn around and look and this old sort of straggly man with a bandanna, black jeans and a Harley Davidson shirt is stumbling across the street trying to get my attention. I stop and look to see what he wants. He stumbles closer , and still yelling pretty loud says "Hey! Hey I need to borrow your horse! I need a ride to the convenience store and I cant find mine".. After a few seconds of contemplation, its apparent to me that this old hippie thinks my dog is a horse and wants to ride it. So I kindly tell him no its my horse and I need it to get to work.. then I pretty much ran away.
This next encounter just happened today, and was by far the strangest. Cutting through a parking lot (adjacent to dead crackhead lot) there is an older man standing in the center of it just staring at the road. This caught me as odd, but I kept my distance just trying to get around him. As I exit the lot and take my normal dog-walking route, I glance behind and notice the old man is following me. I turn around to face him, and as he gets closer you can clearly see just from his face and the way he moves there is something wrong with him, like mental-disorder wise. So I just try and be nice and ask him whats going on or if he needs anything. He opens his mouth, and I cannot in good conscience call what came out human speech. Its hard to describe, but imagine rosie from the jetsons, pissed off and then submerged in a swimming pool. I was very confused, but I thought I could decipher the word "dog" from his insane ramblings... so I thought maybe he wanted to pet my dog?? I let her get close to him , and she gets a bit excited and she sat up on her hind legs as she got close to him. Well, this scared the hell out of this poor guy, and the robotic/chewbacca-like yell it let loose as be backed away was nothing short of frightening. So as we stood there staring at each other in confusion, I decided it was best to just turn around and walk (pretty much run) away. At least this place keeps my life interesting..

*Cliffs*- moved to white trash neighborhood, hilarity ensues.
